Plisson High Mountain White Size 12 (22 x 56mm knot) - This brush surprised me, in a good way. After reading about the decline of Plisson's High Mountain White hair I had to experience it firsthand and it's very, very nice. It has very resilient backbone, which has always been a characteristic of HMW hair that I enjoy, and amazingly soft, natural tips. It isn't quite as silky soft as my vintage Plissons, but you have to really try hard to detect any scritch, which oddly I only found when using paint brush strokes. When face lathering with this beauty using circular motions I just want to keep on going as it feels so nice. This brush retails for $285 plus shipping from Plisson direct. Take this beauty for $190! Older Shavemac Faux Horn D01 Silvertip (23 x 48mm knot) - This is by far my favorite Shavemac 3-band that I have ever used and if it were a bit larger I don't think I could allow myself to sell it. You can tell by the logo that it is a few years old (I believe it was purchased in 2012). Expect a very dense wall of super soft badger with excellent backbone and flow through. If you like a smaller brush you will have a tough time finding one nicer than this. If you were to build this brush on the Shavemac configurator you would be looking at about $135, take mine for $85.
Finally we have the now discontinued Thiers Issard real horn brush (23 x 50mm knot) - This beautiful marbled horn handle feels dense in hand and the beautiful imprint on the bottom really makes it pop. The hair is very reminiscent of Rooney's old silvertip (non-heritage) which means it has a natural softness with just a touch of scrub. The backbone is on the lighter side of medium but had no problems face lathering for me, certainly not floppy by any definition. Some believe these brushes were manufacture by Lee Sabini for Thiers Issard and I would have no argument against it, but I wouldn't state that as fact either. Unfortunately Thiers Issard changed their brushes to a new manufacturer which to my eye does not seem to be of similar quality, nor do they look as classy (IMHO). The modern version of this brush sells for $188 on Fendrihan, take this one for $150. SOLD
