Time and time again, I find myself buying a soap that will burn my face. I try to buy soaps that I know doesn't have fragrance or essential oils that burn my face for its some citrus and clove. But sometimes a soap that looks promising, will in the end burn my face. Frustrating, wondering if you find this a problem. What are your thoughts?

I believe many go through what you have experienced so I think it comes down to trial and error in the quest for shaving products that don't irritate. I have had a few that had just enough irritation that I stopped using them. Early on, it was Mama Bear soaps that did that to me so they were removed from my den. That is not to say that Mama Bear was a bad soap but there was something in them that my skin didn't seem to like. Others, though, used to sing the soap's praises. The only way to find out is to use a product and occasionally be disappointed. Fortunately for me that has been the exception rather than the rule.

if a soap is heavily scented with lime, it'll burn me up. the ach brito gylce lime bar soap TORE ME UP!

there was another soap that a friend's friend brought over from England for me a few years ago, but it escapes me as to which soap it was. didn't agree with my skin either. it was a shaving cream is a black tub...

edit, I think it was the T&H No. 10 shaving cream: https://www.truefittandhill.com/products...ving-cream

I've been fortunate--so far the only two soaps that have burned my face are Catie's Bubbles LPV and Quatre Cent Vingt. The LPV is more of an uncomfortable tingle. The QCV felt like fire ants. I've put both up for sale and if there are no takers, they will either become hand soap or they'll hit the trash. Though my buddy Leon at Pasteur has been curious about Catie's and I might PIF them to him, in the hope that he'll love them. By the way, these are two of Catie's most popular soaps, so my face is in the minority. And my Catie's Ocean Grove works great.

Gave me the burn. Lovely smelling soap.
Much like Razorock Don Marco which I love and had no issues with

I have been very fortunate not experiencing any problems with only one exception. Maggard's Chai Tea occasionally would burn, but is fine most of the time.

Sadly I had this issue with Razorock P.160 and HTGAM Pumpkin 3.14 and Soapy Bathman soaps. Not sure what the issue is but it sucks.

Cinnamon is an ingredient I have learned to avoid. Cinnaconilla soap from Maggard turned me bright red from the cinnamon, though it didn't hurt much. B&M Bay Rum Kyovu stings more than it should, too.

I was interested in QCV, but I got a sting from LPV in a pass around, so I am hesitant to try, assuming they have similar ingredients.

I've had a few burn or tingle me. I thought I had narrowed it down to soaps with vanilla but I'm not sure. I have found with those that I kept that leaving the lid off to air out stopped it. Also another option that has worked for me without airing is a pre shave oil. I guess it creates a barrier between skin and soap. Worth trying if you really like a scent.

The only soap I have found to irritate me thus far was TOBS Sandalwood. Not bright red reaction but a very itchy hive reaction.
