Smallest Plisson-clone?

My home brush is a RazoRock Plissoft (barbershop handle), which I love. Current travel brush is one of the small Omega S-brushes, but it's stiffer and less dense than I like; before that I used my old Satin Tip, which I don't care for at all now. Are there any really small brushes with the Plisson-style knot?

I think an actual Plisson is the smallest with that type of knot. I think it has a 21 or 22mm. Someone correct me if I'm wrong. It seems the demand for larger knots has dictated the market in that direction and nobody is making anything smaller than 24mm anymore.

Fine Accoutrements has a 20mm x 56mm Angel Hair Plisson type brush for $20. That's the smallest diameter I have seen but with a 56mm loft you might now enjoy it if you like the backbone of the RazoRock brush. You could try a Muhle synthetic from Connaught Shaving with the 20% discount they are offering. They offer 19 x 48mm and 21 x 52mm, as well as larger of course.

Sorry, I can never keep this straight. It's a smaller knot, similar loft (56 vs. 57mm), so...floppier?

I have included the Disruptor from ItalianBarber in starter kits lately because it makes for a great home & travel brush. 22mm x 57mm and only $9.

A smaller diameter knot with the same loft height will have less backbone and some would consider it floppy. With synthetics I actually prefer a 55 to 57mm loft on 22 to 24mm knots, and I do not consider them floppy. The backbone is definitely not as much as a RazoRock, but that's how I like them. I prefer the easy splay like the true Plisson. Synthetics do not require backbone to build lather via face lather, but if backbone is your preference then you should get one that has it.

It is worth noting that the RazoRock Bruce I have has a 57mm loft, but due to the large glue bump it also has a lot of backbone. If that brush did not have a glue bump protruding so far out of the handle it would be more similar to the Plisson.

Get an original Plisson. Or a Stirling 24/Razorock 24.
Why go smaller ?
