Slickest Creams?

I'm guessing you are looking for "true" creams that have undergone the rot process. Not soft soaps that everybody tries to say are creams like Cella and whatnot. That's a pet peeve of mine! If it hasn't gone through that chemical transition, it's a soap.

So far Al's stands well above the rest of the creams I've tried, but it definitely takes the most work to lather up. Not finicky, it just takes a LOT of water and some time. I like a few of his scents a lot (his take on the fougere is way more refreshing than most, for example.)

Most other creams don't provide the same level of protection, but a few do match the post-shave and the slickness. Probably if I ranked them, it would go:

Als >> Nancyboy (not sure if I'd classify it like this since it's not the same type of lathering cream) > SJoL > Speick/EJ (strongly suspect it's the same formula) > La Toja.

I've ditched pretty much everything else. Might try baum.be at some point.

Nancy Boy will lather quite well if you put a brush to it. Ignore their claim of "brushless;" I get excellent lathers from mine.

I like Al's creams very much. His Saigon cream is really really nice. Hate those little itty bitty containers, though.

Yeah, I always use a brush with Nancyboy, works really well. I just wish more scents were available!

By the way, did you ever end up getting your own cream going? I recall you mentioning playing around with the idea!

Not at the moment. We're really not set up for that kind of production. Maybe at some point in the future, though; I'd still like to do it.

I have a good number of very slick soaps and the B&M Glissant line is my favorite. There is only one soap that I recently found to be a very strong competitor to the B&M - Pannacrema Nuavia. As of now I only used its Rossa version and I must say it is incredibly slick. However, I am lucky that I do not have to choose either or

Cold River V2 is some tough competition for Glissant. I just got some and it's right there or maybe slicker.

I like the Oliva too, but Will's ingenuity with fragrances and designs, as well his willingness to take risk makes B&M for me more than just shaving soap. I was so thrilled to try his new Night Music and was not disappointed!

CRSW V2 may be slick on the face but I don't think it will give B&M serious competition IMO - I have 2 tins of CRSW V2 the bergamot and bay and the vetiver moderne and to be honest I can't tell the difference scent wise. I think they just make up a batch of soap and put various scent names on the tins. OK, I doubt they seriously do that but its so mildly scented that the different scents are almost indistinguishable. I think it is good for those who have sensitivities to scent. For me its just not enough for a soap to be a great performer, it has to smell like something. Preferably something good.

I like all of the CRSW scents I've tried so far. Performance wise between Glissant and V3, they are in a dead heat IMO. B&M is still my favorite artisan because of Will's creativity and pushing the envelope with his scent profiles.
