I find very little difference in the shave experience between my slant and my regular DEs. I will say, however, that the slant tends to stay cleaner for longer, which would indicate a closer shave. And I will also say that the closeness and longevity is comparable to my GEM G Bar as well.

I use both. It all depends on the razor design. Like regular DEs, not all slants are created equal.

All slants are not created equal. I get a whole different shave from my Hoffritz compared to my modern First Gen stainless Ikon. Both offer great shaves, but that Hoffritz is a shark.

To add a bit more thought to this, the DE blade used can make a difference in different razors, slant, open comb, or safety bar.  Thus you might find you are getting a closer shave with your razor if Brand X blade is used rather than Brand Y.  In another razor, it is possible to get different results with those same blades.

While I thoroughly enjoy my slant (a Merkur 37G), I get just as good results, or better, from some of my safety bar and open comb razors.  That may not be true for someone with a different skin and beard type, however.  For me, it comes down to what razor I am in the mood to use on any given day.

Freddy Good point. I have found that out with my razor/blade combos. Well said,
