Slant Head Question

Another vote for the Ikon 102. Works great for me, and was my main razor for the past year. That is until I started gathering vintage Gillette's.

I would agree- if you are looking for a mild yet efficient slant, the 102 would be a great choice. It also let's you try something else totally different [aluminum head] and outside the Merkur family if you like checking out different things.

yeah and that is what I am wanting to do try something different. ou never know right?

I don't enjoy slants, but the Ikon 102 is the easiest one to get along with, for me, anyway. It is quite mild compared to the majority of the others, but it is quite effective.
Maybe, I should revisit the Merkur 37C to verify things as I haven't used one in over four years.

I'll definitely contemplate it, but my skin didn't enjoy the 37C when I used it, initially.

I have heard that the 37C can be a little aggressive. I like that in a women not necessarily my razor LOL

The 37c has been changed recently. It is, so I'm told, a much more mild razor than it was just a year or so ago. Looking at photos, you can see major differences in both the safety bar and lather channels, as well as the gap between the SB and the cap...

That's interesting, Chris.  My 37G (Gold, as oppossed to Chrome) is now several years old.  When I purchased it, it definitely had a reputation as an aggressive razor.  Indeed, for the first few shaves I was gettings small nicks and weepers.  However, I have long mastered it and get very nice shaves from it.  I still may get the occasional small weeper from it but nothing like I used to.  While I still have it in my rotation, I must admit that there are other non-slant razors that I prefer.  I guess it's all part of this constant shaving journey that most of us are on.

Ive never even gotten a small weeper from my slant, and I am using the ilder, more aggressive version of the 37c. Its right up there alonside my V3 as a "favorite" because of how smooth it is and how easy it makes a BBS finish.

This whole YMMV saying is taking on a tangible feeling in these threads lately...

I haven't tried the merkur slant but I love love love my ikon 102. it is so smooth and comfortable yet efficient at removing the stubble.  I commit that some time this year I will try other slants.  I'm waiting for The Holy Black's slant as a pif/pass around but the postal service is ridiculously slow on this one - I suspect that someone in the mail handling facility is enjoying some very nice shaves.  I'm ok with that as long as they eventually send it on
