The Ordinary routine generator will get us going in the right direction.  Thank you for sharing.

Yes Sri, I've been diligent with the sunscreen.  If I have one regret about my skincare regimen its that I didn't start it years ago.  As they say (not sure who but someone) - the best time to start a skincare regimen (or whatever) is 45 years ago.  The second best time is today.

I've been grooving The Ordinary to get into the habit and I've been working in the occasional Wholly Kaw skincare products to see what works with The Ordinary.  Eventually I'll have a good idea of what works best for me.  I owe this adventure to Wholly Kaw skincare products and to Sri and his wise guidance.   Happy2

Vintage Shaver

In all of these considerations, I think it is wise to remember that the skin is a dynamic, fluid, living organ that changes with age and time (and even throughout the day), with weather differences, with diet, and probably even with mood. There have been various shaving softcare products to which I eventually developed intolerances, and there have been others to which my skin reacted badly but which, on later use months or years later, were just fine.

Thank You Marko and Sri,
What an enjoyable and informative thread!
The addition of the Skin Care section will be a great help to all of the members here, both old and young.
Marko, I (and I’m sure many others) appreciate the insight into your skin care routine.
The information on the amazing Wholly Kaw skin care products is indispensable.
Please keep us informed on any new Wholly Kaw products that you are using, Marko.
Otherwise, we will all look like dried prunes. ha!
Thanks again,
Pete

I won't stop repeating but we should start with sunscreen. Sunscreen is a must. FDA approved with SPF rating on the package.

Not just a product that contains "sunscreen ingredient".

Sunscreen would need to be tested using ISO standards and other regulations from FDA. There are a ton of products that claim sun protection but I would not use it without the SPF rating and the active ingredients listed.

I'm using this sun screen product from The Ordinary at the moment - https://theordinary.deciem.com/ca/rdn-mi...-50ml.html

I've had some issues with sunscreens over the years - I';ve noticed with some that within minutes of applying I can taste a nasty chemical taste and experience mild nausea.  This one from The Ordinary doesn't do that to me.  By just adding the sunscreen application to your morning regimen you can be sure that its on every day rather than just trying to remember to apply it if you're going to be outside.  If you're going to be outside later in the afternoon then you should reapply it.  This is important for everybody but I especially think that you young guys who haven't done too much UV damage to your skin yet will be especially thankful that you took Sri's advice and applied sunscreen every day.  Now for us guys with a few more miles on the chassis, its just as important.  I'll bet your wives are all doing effective skincare including sun protection.  Do you want people thinking your wife is out with her aged father when you are out in public together? No, I didn't think so.  I'm not saying that you have to undertake as involved a program as your wife might be doing but you should be doing something that includes sun protection and moisturizing.

Ok, so I’ve been sticking with my skincare regimen with The Ordinary products for just over three months now. Do I notice any difference or improvement? In a word, yes. My skin is more moist and the smiley lines around my eyes less noticeable. Maybe there’s been less to smile about. Who knows. All the skincare products say they will reduce the appearance of wrinkles and lines not the existence of them.

My #1 issue with the regimen and products has been the sunscreen. It’s always a bit heavier than I’d like and despite all of them claiming to be non-comedogenic, they often are on my skin.

I’ve occasionally mixed up my regimen and used some of the Wholly Kaw products. The Centella eye cream is good as is the Ectoin face serum and the Lait Ecreme as moisturizers. I found the Anti-Aging serum to be a little heavy.

All in all I think it was a good move on my part to add a  focused skincare regimen to my AM/PM routine. Even the sunscreen. The Ordinary products don’t break the bank and are readily available. The company, Deciem has excellent service. No complaints there. And most importantly, my wife thinks my skin looks great. After all, she’s the one who spends the most time looking at my mug. Smile

I want to correct what I said about the Wholly Kaw products in my previous post, its the Lait Ecreme that I find a little heavy not the Anti-Aging Serum.  Sorry.

I have been combining hyaluronic acid with polyglutamic acid for moisturizers lately and I have to say that this combo just blows away anything else!! I first rub in a few drops of the hyaluronic acid into my face and then wait 5 or 10 mins, I then rub in a few drops of polyglutamic acid and Bingo!!

This combo works like nothing ever before!! No more greasy balms or humectants that peter out in an hour. This is "cutting edge" science and it is cheap to boot in the overall scheme of things.   Wink

This looks pretty cool - do you use this as a morning / evening application after cleansing or as a post shave ?
