site downtime, 1/10/16 @ around 10pm EST

Hi folks,

I'm moving this site to a new server tonight. I expect some downtime around 10pm EST that shouldn't last for too long, but a DNS change is required, so site accessibility might be a problem until the changes made are fully propagated around the world. We're going to proxy connections from the old server IP to the new server IP to hopefully minimize the downtime due to DNS changes.

The proxy has been set up on the old server so all web traffic is redirected to the new server.

On Wednesday or Thursday night, we'll make the DNS changes needed to fully implement the change.

Some day I hope to understand what this is all about.

But not right now.
I am going to sleep now to avoid being further confused.

no. I think one of the socks that runs a service kept crashing. I made some changes to it that are supposed to be more reliable. we'll see how it goes!

andrewjs18 thats no problem. I've got into the habit of sitting down with my first cup of coffee and checking out DFS, this morning I stared at the error screen I checked out a UK forum called The Shaving Room, it was fun reading posts written with unfamiliar idioms - like Fawlty Towers of shaving

I work at night so anything that happens to the server from say 5am until 12pm (when I typically wake up) will go unfixed until I my eyes are open.
