Okay I got to try the soap and balm today. I scooped out a little strip and lathered up with the kabuki knot. It lathered up very well so I used the trusty Kai captain that i have not cut myself with Ever but this time I got a little nick. The soap lathers good and last but the glide was a little stiff for this first time. I might not have used enough water though so it could have been me ?  The scent was pleasant  and lingers afterwards but  to be honest i am not used to balms so when i applied just the tiniest bit it made my face feel waxy but with a pleasant scent though i had to put on a alcohol splash to make it less waxy for my preferences... Would i buy these products ? Yes they are very nice and smell pleasing And I would use them but just not as my daily soaps or balm... Thank you for allowing me to try these products, I appreciate it very much.....

Tried it again yesterday with the same results again.. Unfortunately it looks like this soap / balm is not for me... YMMV.

I certainly understand how some soaps don't work for gents due to several factors but this soap has been a champ in my hard water.  As I read your earlier post you stated "took a ribbon out". How much is that?  I assume you took it to a lather bowl to make a lather?  I am postulating but do me a solid and take a good almond sized piece out f the tub and smear it around in your lather bowl to maximize surface area.  Next, take that Kabuki brush and squeeze most of the water out. Start loading and lathering that brush up but add water back just a bit at a time.  Don't worry about picking up too much soap but keep working for a yogurt consistency that is shiny like yogurt and see If that Doesnt solve slickness and protection issues.

what i meant by ribbon was i went around and "skimmed" a piece off top then pressed it into the bowl it covered more surface area that way.. also the kabuki knot fell apart now i have a very nice badger sent to me by a friend of mine.. i will try what you recommend and report back....thanks

ps. i didnt want to take alot out of the jar because there is not alot in it and if anyone else wanted it i was trying to make sure there was some left. if i use much more there wont be enough to send forward.

Great idea.  And use enough soap for an honest lather even if it uses up what's left.  The soap maker would say the same as he knows that's the best way to assess what a soap can really do.

i just did and i got a better lather this time but i dont know what it is but it dried out my face while at the same time making it feel slimy and it actually started to itch and hurt so i had to thouroughly scrub my face and wash it in alcohol to get it off.... I guess this soap just isn't for me.....oh well , i guess i'll move on from it.
