Well 'dagger of Schick' absolutely sums it up. Not lasting irritation, but it definitely was irritating cutting the hairs. I'm not loving this SE thing. Still, it cut pretty well.

I went with Chicago Grooming Pucker this time, as it's another soap that really performs. I also gave pre-shave oils a try: with a mix of castor oil, avocado oil, and vitamin E. I feel like it may have done something for my skin, as post shave my complexion looks much less red. We'll have to see how it goes.

Have a good evening folks!

SEptember -- The Inaugural Shave

Went straight to the top dog and used the Vector tonight to begin the festivities. I replaced the Arko in the OS mug with Mitchell's Wool Fat (thank you MaineYooper !)

About "HydroMagic" - I just assume that it's their name for the rinse lever feature, not the razor model itself, like the '56 Buick's "Variable Pitch Dynaflow" transmission.

Depending on your viewpoint, I may be stretching the boundaries of SEptember, but I really want to get my shavette game together, and month long time-outs get in the way of that.  I don't expect every shave will include a shavette, but some will.

With two format shaves, the conventional wisdom is to begin with the shavette for a comfortable portion of the shave, and then finish with a safety razor.  I switch when any of the following happens:  My concentration is shot; time is running short; things are going uncomfortably off course.  So today I began with the Essence.  After two full, bloodless and close passes, I was very pleased, and especially so because my non-dominant hand was having a sort of "personal best" today:  It knew what it was doing better than ever.  IME developing non-dominant hand proficiency has been the toughest, and most nerve-wracking shavette challenge.

For me, two full passes means WTG and XTG on the face, but WTG and ATG on the neck.  So at this point, with dinner soon to come out of the oven, I switched to the Vector, expecting smooth sailing from here on out.  How wrong I was.  After six (6) beautiful shaves with a KAI ProTouch MG, I decided to load up the Vector with a fresh ProTouch for the occasion of SEptember 01.  I am hoping this was a rare instance of a dud KAI blade, as it was uncomfortable and "tuggy" from the first stroke.  Since my face is not a laboratory, I decided to wrap things up ASAP - no buffing or touchups of any sort.  This one goes on the books as a DFS with some minor nicks that succumbed to witch hazel, but also with happy - and hopeful - memories of the first two Tedalus passes.

Ugh, this sounds foreboding. Toss in your favorite razors, Paul, and get back in the groove! Another play at home version is to use only one side of the DE razor for the whole shave! Seriously, I have rationalized this so that I can sneak in an Overlander shave  Evilgrin

Soap: Stirling Deton-8
AS 1: Humphrey's Alcoholado Maravilla 70
AS 2: Stirling Deton-8
Fragrance: Viktor and Rolf Spicebomb
Consecutive Daily Shaves - # 1,396

Shout out to Eric MaineYooper for following thru and setting up the acquiring of a Gem Micromatic handle from a broken razor. I have wanted one of these for a little bit but never followed thru with the member on another forum that makes them. Now I have it and decided to hook it up with the Vector for it's first outing but they look better on the older vintage razors to me and will be using it there mostly. How's that for my typical run-on sentences. Big Grin Have a great day Folks !

Thankfully I was able to find my GEM blades (still can't located the injectors though).  Had a wonderful shave...nearly BBS but I didn't want to push it and cause irritation.
