Shrinking Photos when Quoted

So, I don’t know if this is in any way a viable function to implement, but…

On the SOTD threads especially, sometimes an original photo gets re-posted (when quoted) several times. And often those photos are quite large, which results in a lot of scrolling (and a lot of space being taken up). I wish that when a quote contains an image, that image would be shrunken in size. This way, everyone could still see what the original photo was, but the “quoted photo” wouldn’t end up taking up so much area on the page, as it would just be a thumbnail version (or something slightly larger) of the original photo.

(Disclaimer: I browse the forum on my computer about 95% of the time, so this may be a non-issue to those who mainly browse on a phone or a tablet. Nevertheless, I wanted to bring this up to a) see if anyone else has noticed the same and b) find out if there’s any [quick/easy] solution to the matter.)

Matt, this is also something I have thought about a lot.  Like you, I am on my computer most of the time.  andrewjs18is this doable?

I just delete the image when I quote something.

probably not without putting extra load on the server and loading javascript and such. I don't think it's worth those resources, personally.

I usually do this too, but sometimes the image is relevant to the response.

What about a link to a separate thread where members can discuss whatever that may come up related to the SOTD but not a SOTD. Sometimes its comments on the pic or the gear and sometimes its off on a tangent. You would leave the SOTD uncluttered with replies and quotes and it would be pure SOTD pics with likes. All the comments replies and non sequitors would be in the separate SOTD replies thread.

that requires wayyyy too much user cooperation to make it a success, imho.

Could a code monkey make the "reply" button on only the SOTD thread automatically post the reply on the secondary thread? If it weren't possible to reply directly on the SOTD thread it wouldn't take any cooperation.

There's too many possible thread sections for such a thing to work well.
