That razor is simply breathtaking ... sheer perfection!

This showed up in the mail today .. An EIKO YSK.2, with factory edge. Promptly taken for a full synthetic progression .. Naniwa Professional, 3K to 5K, Superstones 8K to 12K, and finished on Suehiro Gokumyo 20K .. Quite fitting for a high class Japanese Western-Style Straight ..

These two returned to me today from Las Vegas. Both rescaled incomparably by my friend Max.

The H.Diamond, in faux Camel Pearl, has been a workhorse around here for years, but it was hampered by very unattractive black generic scales. A superb shaver ..

The next, a NOS Hospital era Le Grelot "14". This has yet to have an edge put on it other than at the factory .. Again, a beautiful blade put into poorly fitting, and unattractive cheap scales. Max did an updated traditional T-I shape in faux Ivory with a blood red wedge. Simply stunning!

Small restore of the blade. It is sitting in neatsfoot oil to hydrate the old horn. From researching, it looks like this guy is from the 1850's.

My current "7 Day Set"...

Top left to bottom right:
Wostenholm IXL Celebrated 6/8 hollow, JR Torrey 6/8 hollow, Wade & Butcher Invincible 11/16 belly hollow, Wade & Butcher Golden Concave 5/8 near wedge, Simmons Keen Kutter 5/8 hollow, Allegheny Instruments Corporation 4/8 near wedge, Gazelle 11/16 hollow dwarf. The Gazelle dwarf is just under 2" long from toe to heel.

All of these except 2 will end up in teak scales eventually. The Simmons in natural horn and the W&B Invincible in faux ivory will both most likely keep their original scales, just because they are in great shape, and original is always good. The Wostenholm Gazelle, and Torrey are being re-scaled this weekend in teak...

My paternal Grandfather was a barber who passed away in the early 60's. We found some of his barber equipment when we were going through some old boxes up in the attic at Thanksgiving, and there were 4 straight razors in boxes that box. We're trying to determine if they are worth anything and I was hoping to get some opinions here after acquiring enough information to be dangerous elsewhere.
1) one marked 132 Red Imp on the blade and redimp wedge on the scales
2) one marked "Beckher-Otte.Inc", Solingen and made in Germany on one side and Welch on the other
3) one that doesn't have any markings on it at all. It has some rust on the blade, the rest are rust free.
4) one marked Robeson Shuredge, Rochester N.Y. and 1603. This is the only one that has a box that matches the razor, the rest have boxes that don't. One of the boxes has "Shumate Peacemaker" on it and the other is a Wade & Butcher box.

My grandfather passed away suddenly and unexpectedly. All of the razors look like they were used regularly in the barbershop and look like they were part of the equipment that was kept when the shop closed after he passed away. They're all pretty sharp too!

I've got some pictures saved on my hard drive, is there a way to post them without a link?
