I want to give a shout out to Justin, aka Bufflehead Soap. In addition to making an awesome shaving soap, he is a decent human being.
A few weeks back there was a thread on DFS discussing artificial scarcity - interesting thread that periodically veered close to being closed. I think it eventually was closed by the Mods. In any case, The topic of Bufflehead and how hard to get it is naturally came up as well as how releases sold out in seconds and then product would show up for re-sale at significant mark up. Artisan get retail but scalper gets windfall...not fair.
As a result of this discussion Justin posted that he would ensure that anybody who wanted one of his soaps could have one for $100. $30 for the soap and $70 for charity. Zero for scalpers. I thought this was a brilliant idea so I contacted Justin to take him up on his offer.
Today I received a tub of Bufflehead Velvet Ditch which is his latest release and I also received confirmation from Justin that he had made a donation of $70 to the Alive Hospice in Nashville which is a palliative care hospice that provides compassionate care and comfort to terminally ill patients in the final stages of their lives. A truly worth cause.
Thank you Justin
Mark
