I guess I am very fortunate. For the first time in my life I live alone now, in this old house. The kids flew the coupe years ago.
After 40 years of yucky yellow 3" tiles I felt the need for a change so I designed a renovation.
Working with the contractor it came out just as I had imagined it. I can clean the whole room in under 10 minutes and there is no grout growing mould to worry about.
It is now a bathroom with no bath. It has a walk in shower and the rest of the room is designed for wet/traditional shaving.
I have never designed anything in my life. The only thing the contractor changed was the paint colour.
She was so right. The shaving bowl warmer was in my mind during reconstruction.

I would love to see pictures of your beautiful new bathroom Mickey. :-)

"....but I like my various rituals.."

I agree. Shaving is composed of a number of ritualistic steps that are not to be trifled with.
I prefer to call them protocols. It sounds much snootier.
Some insensitive yahoos call them habits.

My house is air conditioned so I like a nice warm lather year round.
And, most importantly a hot shower "pre shave" helps diminish arthritic pain.
The shower is mandatory. The pre shave is a bonus.

Coffee mug warmers. Scented candle warmers. Scuttles. What's next?
We wet/traditional shavers are indeed believers in"necessity is the mother of invention".

We did miss out on a good one though. When my brother and I were kids we shared a small attic room as our bedroom. That included a small plastic encased mantle radio. It grew quite hot after half an hour and more of The Lone Ranger or The Shadow or Fibber McGee and Molly. To bad we didn't shave when we were six and seven.

Fredy and Marko are there not kitchen pots and pans - flexible ones - that are used in ovens and microwaves that that would retain the heat at a bearable temperature (80 to 90 degrees) and still,be easy to hold if only with a detachable handle.
Kitchen suppliers cary amazing selections of unusual, devices as do scented candle stores.

And then there are the Chinaware shops with their unusual and often beautiful objects.

A little imagination goes a long way said the giraffe.

Just remember, all bottoms MUST be FLAT and SOLID.

I have no financial interest in it. When I retired I was determined at all costs to avoid invoices, statements, journals, ledgers and accountants.
Michal Yoresh of Modi'in Israel, a very talented ceramic artist and potter and I collaborated to develop this. I have been using it for over two years now. It will keep my lather warm as long as I keep it turned on.  Michal named it after me.
There is a not too steep learning curve that I wrote for its users.

I love it, Mickey.  I have a coffee mug warmer and ceramic shave bowl and thought about this but, unfortunately, I have no room in my bathroom to set up something like it.  Sadly, I have a pedestal sink with not much room around the basin.

The pedestal sink is the bane of all wet shavers!! They should be relegated to powder rooms only. Its time to festoon your walls with shelving to hold all of your necessary items. Big Grin

How about shelves around the front and sides of the pedestal?
Or one of those large compartmented bags for shoes that are made to hang from doors or even walls?
Window sills provide some usable display and/or storage space.
Or if the room uses a hot water heater, top it with a board and, if necessary, a slab of styrofoam for insulation.
Or the item that all apprentice carpenters are sent to fetch, a skyhook.

A wild find on the internet classified ads. A vintage Seto Marujyu shaving scuttle in excellent condition. Just in time for winter. Pictured with one of my favorite barber style brushes.

Sounds interesting, do you have a link to the vendor site?
