Thanks, Dave. Yes, it went very well and she is resting now. Even had me go face the hordes in the grocery stores to get some things I didn't have time to get earlier. And actually, shopping wasn't too bad because I was mainly replenishing staples and didn't go near the turkey/stuffing/pie places!!
I joked that we could put our turkey and sweet potatoe and veggies in the Ninja blender and have Thanksgiving smoothies, but I barely got a smile. I'll blame it on recovery and not a poor joke!!

A quiet day so far, as we await the predicted 3" to 6" of wet, heavy snow. Right now I have light rain and 34F. Travel conditions could deteriorate, so I hope everyone traveling plans for weather events as the go over the river and through the woods!

Shave #2 with the Athena this morning.

Lambda Athena
Personna Platinum Chrome (2)
Zingari Man Unscented
PAA Star Craft 24mm Roswell Grey knot

Much nicer shave today, as I didn't apply pressure to make the razor feel like it was shaving. And I got another closely shaven face with no irritation and only 1 red spot. Yesterday I was having difficulty with the feedback from the Athena. And my lather was really rich, and not rinsing out of the scallops when I swished the head around in the basin. I applied pressure at various angles to hear or feel feedback instead of shaving as I normally would. I think I was trying to make the Athena behave as my other DE razors do. Anyhow, while sitting in the dental surgery waiting area, I was reading more carefully about others experiences with this razor and realized I need to just shave and see what happens. And I need a more yogurt-like lather, with more water in it. The result was fantastic!

And I learned that the reason there are no lather slots in the baseplate is for the rather ingenious design that funnels water through the scallops and out of the sides!

(stolen from the internet!)

My wife's implant surgery went well. Last night was rough for her, not pain, but constantly needing the use of the bathroom and getting confused as to when in the day/night we are. It is darkening by 4:15PM and fully dark by 5PM. So in the early hours this morning, she wasn't sure if it was AM or PM, and woke me up justifiably panicking. I think made worse by an empty stomach and some pain meds, as well as my Dad being hospitalized and diagnosed, among other things, as having dementia. So daily reports have been poor regarding his mental state, and that undoubtedly affected her.

So today is to be mellow, relax and eat some soft foods, and get her feet under her again. And I apologize if the post seems bleak. It really wasn't meant to be. My siblings and I are calling Dad. My wife and I knew she'd need soft foods so we planned accordingly. All is as good as it can be!

And we shave on, shave through it, as Dave has said.

Sorry for the struggles Eric. Push thru it and you'll come out he other side. I HATE the disease dementia as I've been thru that caregiving for an 8 year period. The last 2 was chaos and heart wrenching to not only deal with but watch a loved one go thru it. Prayers for your strength.

I'm very sorry for how much you have to handle Eric, and for how unpleasant it is, but I know you can deal with it.  Don't ever doubt that.

Well we had a unique Thanksgiving. About 30 minutes after the turkey came out of the oven we lost power. It was restored about 15 hours later! So no planned sides other than heating up the gravy in my electric tea kettle. We have a General, so we had heat, some lights, and fridge. Somehow the master bathroom is Not on the generator, so your aim better be true! Showering with only light from another room was interesting. But I decamped with some shave gear to the 3/4 bath for better light!

Hope you all had a good turkey day!
