So, if I read your post correctly, I must have this razor, otherwise my shaves will be forever lacking?   I see what you’re doing. Planning to buy out the entire inventory so you can horde your preciouss razor and deprive the rest of us from having the One Razor to rule them all, One Razor to find them, One Razor to bring them all and in the darkness bind them.

Thanks Eric. I understand that we all need - not want - both the razor AND a bigger merry go round, but I’m not clear on which we need first, or if first is buying a bigger house to make room for the merry go round.

I have been switching back and forth between the aluminum Overlander and the Bison. As the narrator says on the Curse of Oak Island, "Could it be..." that the Bison is better than the Overlander?

I have been switching back and forth between the aluminum Overlander and the Bison. As the narrator says on the Curse of Oak Island, "Could it be..." that the Bison is better than the Overlander?

That's exciting Eric. Let me ask ya... how do they compare efficiency wise? It was my understanding that the bison is close, but possibly a bit less efficient than the OL. However, folks also said it was a tiny bit smoother on the ATG pass.

I guess I'm curious how it may be better... efficiency, smoothness, the whole package?

It’s called a “curse” for a reason!

Is it possible to get the perfect shave? Or do you just approach perfection? Occasionally finding a razor that takes you a little bit closer but never actually reaching true perfection. It becomes harder to tell as incremental “improvements” become tinier and tinier. Is it actually better or was it just phase of the moon? I’m going through a phase of one pass shaving with very little touch up. It’s so hard knowing that with just another couple of passes I could be so much smoother. Instead of a five o’clock shadow I could have a nine o’clock shadow or even a midnight shadow. Of course I’m asleep. I had to stop chasing the dragon and so far I’m generally happy with it. My skin thanks me too.

Hey Paul,

Yeah, I was vague in my "better" announcement! To get into more detail, I used a SS Overlander to start a 6 day shave stretch. Then I used the Bison for 3 shave, the AL Overlander for a shave, and then back to the Bison yesterday. By the end of the 3 days of Bison shaves, I was thinking they had to be about as good as the Overlander. So I used the AL OL in an attempt to even the playing field, then used the Bison the next day. The ATG passes seemed to have more blade feel with the Bison, but were not at all irritating and gave an outstanding result yesterday. It was a great shave, one of my best, so for fun and to "stir the pot," I made my bold proclamation! It is all in fun, as you can see there is nothing remotely scientific about these shaves! Different blades with differing number of uses, and the soaps and brushes were not held constant. But it does have me thinking I should do some side by side shaves for several days and lock all things in place, using a fresh blade from the same tuck in each of the Bison and AL Overlander. Maybe one day. In the end, I am happy to have 3 Karves that each have little differences yet deliver outstanding shaves every time I use one of them!

Hey Mark, you hit on something I have struggled with from time to time and most likely will again: the search for the perfect (fill in the blank). There is a saying about good enough and perfect, and searching for perfect can ruin the joy of good (or even great) enough. I appreciate you thoughts, brother, and thanks for posting them here where I can find them!
