Reminded me of that Seinfeld episode where every time Jerry would lose something he'd gain it right back somehow.

Is that the Even Steven episode?  For a show about nothing they managed a Seinfeld episode about everything.

That's it the Even Steven episode, so funny.

Second shave done, only difference was switching sides, having the Romulus on the right and the Hawk on the left. Similar to yesterday, the only thing I noted this morning was once again, the Hawk felt more efficient, with more blade feel. It still felt comfortable, so that is good, just more blade, I think.

As for the whiskers, I went back and forth on whether one side felt like it had more stubble or not. So I am pretending to be thinking tonight but am really rubbing my chin!

Today was the Schick Adjustable set to 5 for 2 passes. Soap was MWS again and the brush was a restored Anchorset with a 24mm Titanium knot. Here are my notes from my log.

"Great lather, had to add more water to get it just right. The Titanium knot is fairly dense, doesn't splay easily, and needed more water to make the lather the way I like it. And while being dense, the knot isn't pokey or stiff, but very comfortable. Splays when pressed against my chin or jawline, so I painted more today. The stubble on the left (Romulus from yesterday's shave) was more prominent and noticeable by feel, 28 hours later. Razor set to 5, but got a bad nick (peeled a pimple), set to 4 for ATG pass."

That nick needed a tissue applied, like the old days, so I had a bit of Kleenex there for 30 minutes and then carefully removed it. So far, no more blood. But I felt the pimple/bump get peeled, and knew right then it was going to be free flowing for a bit! Styptic slowed it but didn't stop it. Tomorrow I may leave that area unshaved!

And you'll see that today the stubble difference was distinct. I got up at 6 for the bathroom and thought maybe it was the same, but after dropping my wife off at infusion and shaving late morning, I could tell a difference between the two sides. And like Saturday, I couldn't tell a difference most of Sunday whenever I touched my face.

A different sort of post today, more automotive than shave related. But I'll start by saying I have been having some great shaves with my newer DE razors (meaning newer models, not vintage!). The Tatara Masumane, the aluminum Overlander with its green trim, and today the electric blue Henson, have all given me comfortable, close shaves without any leaking! Yea team! The ring of MWS Sensitive Skin is getting smaller and my hope it get into my tub of Sheep again by February. I have been enjoying various brushes and basically have a grand ol' time at this once ungratifying chore. I am taking a break from my weekly fixed four and just grabbing what sounds good either the night before or that morning, just like my early days of hoarding acquiring razors and brushes.

Now to the automotive. Some background first. I have recorded here some of the trials and tribulations my wife's health have posed for us (of course, more her than me). One of those is the inability to drive safely and comfortably. We hold onto hope that one day she will be able to get behind the wheel again, but until then, we really only need one car. So after several months of hemming and hawing, we've decided to sell and take just about any offer, as any money seems better than the continual upkeep on a car sitting idle. I was told about using Kelley Blue Book to make as full as disclosure as possible regarding the condition and then submit for a cash offer. Within in 5 minutes, 3 dealerships in the area contacted me and thankfully on is only 10 minutes away or less. After my relaxing shave, I gathered my shop vac and its car "detailing" attachments and spent a couple of hours cleaning out 8 years of debris! I'll report back later to report on how this whole thing went or whether it is just a lure to get you to trade.

Hoping it goes well Eric. We will be upgrading soon a VERY tired car long in the tooth but been a good one. I hate the whole process that I used to enjoy as a challenge when younger......

Good luck Eric! It's my understanding that a lot of dealerships are buying cars outright. There's a huge market for used, especially with the economy being so crappy (as well as the outrageous cost of new these days). Hopefully you get a good deal and can take care of it quickly. Good luck!

Sounds like lots of fun is being had in the shave dept. It'll be interesting to see your choices without the fixed setup. Will it remain consistent out of habit or becomes a fun mystery shave each time?

Have a good day!

Way to go team player Eric with the shaves.
Yeah I'm curious to see how the new way of selling a car works out for you I've no experience with that.
I guess, usually my cars are passed the age for most dealerships to be  interested anyway.

THE CAR IS SOLD!

[longer version]

Carvana ads had me interested in what appeared to be an interesting way to sell your car. They use a different online appraisal form, with categories being 100%, 75%, 50%, etc for rating different systems and the like. Kelley Blue Book used options like "small chip" "needs exhaust" and similar things, and allowed comments. So I could say the exhaust was ok and comment that it seemed louder some days. Carvana quoted me $8.5K to $9.5K when I marked most categories as 75%. KBB quoted $12.4K, which they sent to dealers in their network, who in turn contacted me all within 10 minutes of submitting my appraisal. One dealer was here in town and had an opening to see me today, which I did. I was told it would take about 20 minutes.

They test drove the car, put it up on a lift, and went over it pretty well. And we talked. And talked some more. Lots of small talk, of which I willing engaged, being both talkative and not wanting to annoy them by saying I'd really rather not be here! They found surface rust on a rocker arm and showed me and yup, it looked nasty. They, however, said it can be cleaned up and painted. And I had damage to the front bumper, under the grill, from scraping up against those parking blocks or against curbs if I pulled too close (the Impreza sedan sits low so it is easy to scrape the underside, at least for me!). That being the case, they were prepared to offer me $9.5K, which I took. Maybe I could have dickered, maybe I should have, but my wife and I talked beforehand and agreed: just sell the car. It served its purpose and I knew it needed work to get it in great shape again. And it was still more than I had anticipated getting, even if KBB quoted high. After 90 minutes, I was driven home with a check in hand and an empty garage bay I can now fill up with shave gear!!
