Scentsless Shaver
Oakland, ME
Monday and already a change! First, Birch + Root from Paul, then a nice package from Mike HighSpeed arrived in time for this morning's late shave (day off so first I take my wife to her infusion clinic appointment, then home to shave leisurely!).

Mike sent me three Razorock plates (2 razors) to try out. On the left are the Lupo 72 and 95, and on the right is the Game Changer 84. Now according to the RR aggression scale

the Lupo 72 and GC 84 are both Medium, while the Lupo 95 is Aggressive. I tucked the Lupo 95 base plate safely away for a day I feel braver and spent time switching between the Lupo 72 and GC 84 for the first 2 passes. What I felt was the Lupo 72 had more of blade feel and the GC was just so smooth and nicely audible. Therefore, the GC plate finished up the shave and did wonderfully on the ATG pass. This razor is aptly named, for sure! Many thanks to Mike for lending me this arsenal for the joy of shaving with new to me stuff and to take the time to play around with them! I have often thought I'd like to try the Game Changer 68 SB and so was a little tentative with the first strokes with the 84 SB, but I seem to have been needlessly concerned.

As for the handles, the ball end one feels sort of prickly to my delicate phalanges! But the other handle, that one I immediately fell for, great feel and just the right amount of heft.

So how does it compare to the Overlander? For ease of shave, it is right up there. I want more shaves to make a better comparison, and I need to evaluate how close and how long the shave is to answer that better.

And the other star of shave was the lather. I don't like to swear other than to say silly things, but that lather is outstanding! So slick and creamy, and perfect glide. I may have loaded too heavy, as I spooned out a decent bit into my scuttle to load up the brush and the sample came loose and was taken up by the brush! I typically load off of the puck. But it was, in a word, luscious! And the scent! I love it, and it is faint enough to my nose that I didn't feel like I had my head buried in a cask of root beer. It sort of passed Mrs MaineYooper's sniff test, in that she thought it didn't smell like good root beer to her, but then she only likes Coca-Cola! She okayed a test use, so we shall see if it gets used again. Thanks, Paul mrdoug for the sample!

And the Wizamet was great! Dave in KY gifted me a tuck many moons ago and I don't use them enough!

Thanks for reading a longer post and may Monday go well for us all!

I'm glad you're having fun with the razors Eric, and the soap and blade too.  None of them would be worth much without the other two, which, considering the involvement of brothers Paul mrdoug and Dave in KY,  brings a Beatles tune to mind.

We all get by with a little help from our friends.  It's nice to be a part of that, and also nice to see you shaving so well.

One of the 3 Semogues that had been on loaned to a boar brush pass around got the nod this morning. After being gone for months, opening the box of brushes was like getting an unexpected delivery of new goods!

Game Changer 84
Wizamet (5)
Semogue Galahad C3 premium boar
Stirling Unscented with Beeswax

The GC-84 is an impressive razor. Smooth and efficient, and with audible feedback most pleasing to my ears. The handle today is the very grippy (almost spikey!) ball-end handle and I found I enjoyed it much more than I thought I would (it's a texture thing and I'm working on it!).

I am 1 week into my 1508.5 on the Black Tie #13 and it is nice changing soaps daily and doing little comparisons. Or just shaving and enjoying the bounty I have. Life truly is good!

Anyone interested in a thread for a single edge SEptember? I am planning to go that route, and given the fun of DecemBoar, we could collect thoughts and stories on one thread. I know it happens in other neighborhoods, but why should they have all the fun?!

^^^^^^^^^^^^That made me laugh! Unless someone else does it first, I'll start a thread in the SE section this weekend, even if it is early. But hey, ya gotta have a plan and get prepped!
And Fluffy, we would love to have your words of wisdom, encouragement, and most importantly, your friendly banter with us, even if you poke fun at only me!! SR are the original SE, am I right?!

A fond farewell. I had thought the Fat had passed the sniff test, but apparently I have not used it while my wife was also in the bathroom. While not causing an issue at the moment, she was not a fan of the fragrance MWF has. Ah well, I needed to cull some soaps anyway!

This was intended to be my setup for the week, alternating brushes and alternating MWF with the Black Tie #13, which is the current participant in the 1508.5 project. Have to decide now which soap is next. I think it is PAA Scentsless. If anyone is interested some lightly used MWF, I'll scoop of the top layer and send it your way!

Let's stay well, be kind, and bring a smile to someone daily this week!

Excellent advice!  I will do my best to follow it.
