Ugh. Got called to work tomorrow. At least it is only a half day, then another pharmacist will take the latter half. Stuff happens and from time to time we all pitch in to cover for each other!

Good night, DFS!

AC Comparison Shaves, The Hawk v3

Razorock Hawk, v3
Schick Proline (2)
Hub City Birthday Suit (the hole seems to have stabilized. Guess I'll be using this longer than March!)
Fangorn 2BED

Very relaxing shave, which is nice since I was called late yesterday and asked to work half a day today. Didn’t interfere with any big plans other than sleeping in! But you want shave info!

I didn’t care for the Bull Dog handle that came with the Hawk, so I tried several RR handles and then settled on a TiBam Sample 15 style, which is shown in the photo. It is a titanium handle and works magnificently with the Hawk.

Almost six hours since shaving, I am feeling more stubble coming in, which of course it will, but the Vector and the General went longer before I really noticed the stubble. My notes from other shaves almost a year ago noted the same: nice, comfortable, easy shave but not as close as the Vector. What I like about the Hawk is how easily it glides! The Vector in SS removed all the lather in one pass on my face. Taking a second swipe without re-lathering was asking for trouble. The General was better, but the machined SS dragged a bit, so I had the head polished. This improved the glide, but the Hawk wins for easy gliding. I really like the Hawk for getting a great shave when comfort trumps all else!

Even though the longevity may not be up there with the other two AC razors, I give this shave a 10/10 and am pleased to have three great AC razors to remove the stubble!

Comparison Shave Notes
This will come as no surprise to folks that use Blackland Razors Vector. It gives an outstandingly close shave. And the titanium Vector is the bee’s knees for me! Comfortable, smooth, and what a long-lasting finish! When I washed up for bed 14 hours after shaving, my cheeks were still very smooth, almost 2-pass shave smooth! Chin and neck had stubble, just not as much as “normal” for me by bedtime.

Colonial Razors The General V2 head (stainless steel) is also no slouch. The shave is also very comfortable and smooth, but not as long lasting as the Ti Vector for me. How long lasting was it? Glad you asked! I’d say in the neighborhood of 11-12 hours. Sure, stubble on the neck, but again cheeks and chin were in great shape by the end of an 11-hour work shift.

razorock's The Hawk V3 (stainless steel) gives extremely easy and comfortable shaves. I put in the No Slouch category as well. While the shave lasts a “normal” time for me (8 - 10 hrs), it is not as long lasting as the General and the Vector. But it is a darn good razor and currently I don’t see it as extraneous. It is wonderful for a relaxingly almost mindless shave that gives great results on those days where you know you don’t have to be dolphin-smooth all day! And another plus, you get more stubble the next morning to whisk away!

Gillette NEW Long Comb
Personna Comfort Coated (1)
Hub City Birthday Suit
Trotter Handcrafts "Samish Dusk" Manchurian badger

A wonderful shave to start the day! Thanks to Paul D for the razor and blades! I dislike most open combs due to how they feel to me. But the NEW LC is an exception that I really enjoy. And the Personna CC blade did very well on its first use. I look forward to getting to know this blade. I am a big fan of the Platinum Chrome Personnas, and am happy to try Paul's fave!

The brush. OMG! It seemed a bit "stubby" at first glance to me, but is it nice! A thick but so soft cushiony knot. Loaded long and it paid off. There will be no brush rotation this week!
Thanks Paul T for making me a wonderful tool that I will enjoy and treasure for my lifetime!

Had a picture already for my shave this morning (took it last night) and then made a last-minute switch up this morning, so NO PIC FOR YOU!

Karve Overlander
Personna CC (2)
Mitchell's Wool Fat
Samish Dusk badger brush

Unbeknownst to me at the time, I followed Dave's Saturday shave by doing a 2-pass WTG/ATG shave. I needed time this morning to get my wife ready for an all-day medical appointment she has every Monday. I put together a lunch/care package for her, get all her stuff gathered, and make sure she is set to spend the day in the infusion clinic. And I didn't do prepping last night, so I knew I had a little more to get done before we had to leave. Anyway (TMI, right!?), I still need my shave and didn't want to eat up too much time.

How was it? Pretty good, but I can feel some stubble, I think, but not enough to wish I'd don the XTG pass. Yet. I know I'll have at the least 5 o'clock shadow, if not sooner! But it was nice, comfy, and fairly close.

Hoping Monday treats us well!

Its funny how brand new/un-used badger knots look small and stubby in the handle. They they just sorta explode after the first uses and look right. I hope you like that handle style. Its a fairly new offering. I think I probably made 5 or so that are similar. Personally I like the weight and beefiness.
