Been a while since I last posted an entry. But with DecemBoar going on, I think I am putting more stuff over there. Time to fix that some!
This is the planned set for this week. I am really down the hole, like Alice, with both boars and single edge razors! And I am loving it! I won't repeat it here, but today's (12/19) DecemBoar post has my thoughts about Bartigan & Stark's Nil, from Calgary, Alberta, Canada.
I have been sitting on this next item/topic for a few days now. Time to speak openly about it! Ken Fluffy loaned me his Occams Razor Nano. I have one shave in and not sure I like it. The head is humongous! But it did what it needed to do. And it sure seems "fiddly" what with little screws and all. I lived in fear I'd lose one when I tried to change the blade to a Kai Protouch. Couldn't get it to sit right and tight, nicked my thumb (which is why most sharp tools are NOT in my collection!), and finally put the Proline back in. To be fair, I should try it again. I am very thankful for the chance Ken gave me to try it out. I should stop feeling bad about not liking it and be more thankful of the money Ken saved me from deciding to pruchase one!
There were a few surprises in the box. As Ken wrote in the wonderful letter enclosed in the package, "While you absolutely knew about the Nano, I had to surprise you..." And he did, with both the "86 S" handle, with my username on it
He also had this surprise for me
My first straight razor! My nose, lips, and ears are in fear of losing their respective places on my cranium! And I am both excited and scared to try this style of shaving. I have started reading and watching (only trusted tubers, like Ken, Fuzzy, and Dave) for their styles of attack. And researching stropping. I found this beaut on amazon, but will pass!
Better than $300 at some other sites!
To be serious, the point is that Ken has shown his fluffier side and shared some wonderful things with both me and others. Thanks for helping make this Christmas a little merrier!
We all have struggles, and we may not be open about them, but the friends here support one another and that makes a world of difference to me when life is beating the snot out of me, a loved one, or another member.
Stay safe, be safe, and thanks to all for making DFS a fun, restorative place!

Thanks for the shout out Eric.
I’m sorry the Nano is not playing well. You can load the blade without removing the screws. That’s just for changing the plate.
I didn’t get the little tool that helps you load them. But with a little practice you can slide them in from the back. Until they click into place. You just get the blade ends into the slot. Then flex the center of the blade down about an 1/8” while pushing it onto to the posts. Glad you liked the surprise.

With more help from Ken and Dave, I figured out how to easily swap out the blade in the Nano. Color me shame-faced for making a simple task complicated!
Tomorrow's shave will feature the Nano with a new (and for the first time ever) Kai Captain Titan Mild blade. This is not the guarded blade, but Kai's mild blade.
I have to get this out of my system, now. Every time I write Nano, I hear
There, I feel better now.

I have discovered I have a problem. I suspected as much and was thinking about the dreaded S-word for 2022. Here is a synopsis of the last 3 years.
2019: 12 purchases made, 4 sales.
2020: 34 purchases, 10 sold/moved on.
But, in 2021 so far.....
Are you ready?
This hurts me more than it hurts you!
108 purchases!!! With 19 sales/moved on.

I'm sure I've bought a lot, but I refuse to research and find out how much. Lol.
Instead of jumping all in with the S-Word (which in my case would be setting myself up for failure), why not try a month at a time restraint? I've seen it referred to as a GRUME on other neighborhoods.
I'd say just don't shop, but I think posting it out there and having to justify a break from it adds accountability.
I'd probably join in for January and/or February. My bank account would prefer I do all twelve, lol.
