That's a new one for me...side by each!

"Side by each" is not just for Mainers (≈ 0:47 - 0:58).

    ... Copper head, copper beech
Copper kettles sitting side by each
    Copper coil, cup o'Georgia peach
    Down on Copperline ...

This explains a lot, Mike, as I first heard it from a huge JT fan!

This brush is The Bomb: Big, Bad, and a joy to hold (actually, that's the handle!). The knot got it done, and they are working well together! Made me think of this, the song that started it all in the US for Rush: Working Man.

This version starts with some reggae vibes, then kicks your ear holes!!

Another new to me boar, this one a lightly used Shave Forge knot (28mm, per seller, but I am knot sure, seems smaller than the TNS in my Fluffy Copper, which is 27mm). I did the soak while showering prep and had to back to the puck for the second pass. I enjoy taking the time on a morning off work to research on the interweb these things, so I hope to do this soon. My working theory is that in days of yore, the guys left there brushes in a mug that had a puck of soap (Williams?!) in it. Maybe they didn't have such issues, as they loaded for a pass or two and the brush stayed on the puck. Maybe I'll find out! Whatever I find, I'll be sure to share it here.

I was surprised that yesterday's shave with the Clog Pruf didn't seem as long-lasting as with the Damaskeene and MMOC used earlier in the week. Today I used the Flying Wing, and during the shave something about the feedback and smoothness made me suspect I was not getting as close as I was hoping for. Then at the final cold-water splash/rinse I was pleasantly surprised by how smooth even my trouble spots felt. So maybe the Flying Wing is flying under the radar and giving me an outstanding shave on use 5 of the GEM! We'll see as the day progresses.

I think I have success!

I bought 2 of these boar knots (24mm) from AP Shave Co in their sale section. They looked rough and unlikely to be what I wanted, but at $4 on Black Friday, and with the Stirling handle needing a 23-24mm knot, I decided to give it a go.

I set the knot the other day, and did a test lather last night. I am very surprised and impressed! The bristles are a lot softer when wet and soapy!  This is after one lather and rinse.

Nice Eric! How about bristle loss... Any significant amount?

I believe you found a hidden gem.

I did lose a few, like 3-4? Not bad. Andrew has them on the sale page, with the caveat that they shed too much. Maybe Dave would like one?!  Tongue
We shall see as time goes on. I plan to lather it nightly and see how it goes. I think it looks good in that Stirling handle. The before pic doesn't capture just how small, stiff, and brittle they seemed, compared to the new boar knots from Turn N Shave or TGN that I got. I really mentally wrote them off and set the knot expecting half the bristles to fall out on the first lather! You may be right, this may be a gem! I have another, if you are interested. At $4 bucks, I thought why get just one! But I don't have plans for it.

Lol, thanks Eric, but my Boar shelf is already at max capacity. As it is, I had to pull a nice brush already, to fit in the latest SOC. It works out, as I sent it off to a friend getting into Boars (like us!).

Going to leave the shelf as "complete"... for now.

I agree... 3-4 bristles isn't bad at all for a first time out. As long as it drops down from there, you're in good shape.

When I was trying to get a comfortable setup with the Vector, I picked up some AC blades to try. The Schick Prolines were the best for me in the Vector. While thinking about which razor to use next week, I realized that I never tried the other blades in either the Hawk or the General. Any thoughts on these blades? Or whether you noted certain blades work better in one AC razor versus another?
