Today was almost a repeat of yesterday's shave, but I swapped the Contour for the Yates 921 with a new Rapira Platinum Lux and the Mid-level plate. Smooth sailing for a smooth finish!

Well, color me shamed! The answer to my lever question was in front of me all along! It was in the Injectors for Dummies thread on Shave Den: "In 1973 the only major functional change to these razors was introduced with a new guard lever marketed initially as the protector that locked the guard from moving and in such a way that you could grab the razor head without cutting your fingers. This covers from 1973 -1984 / 86." Member is BBS, not sure if it is BBS here as well, but someone with that username posted here regarding Schick twin blades and the injectors, and seemed knowledgeable enough for me to believe it is the same gent!

And being of a curious nature, I put in a blade, moved the lever, and proceeded to rub my finger across the blade area! No blood, no cuts! Sunday will most likely be the inaugural shave with both this newer Type M and the twin blades. I have a Type N inbound, and look forward to have a good time during SE September!

As an aside, good thing I didn't enter any sabbaticals this year! Man, I have moved more gear through my shave kit than when I was new and buying razors like crazing in 2016 and 2017. Of course, I didn't have so many friends helping me out, either, lol!

Bit late of a reply but yes I am same BBS that wrote the dummies guides for Schick injectors. The most current ones are at TSD, the B&B ones are no longer being maintained since I am not a member there anymore. I'd post them here but it is a lot of work to reupload all the pictures to a third party hosting service and rewrite the posts. If the mods don't have an issue with linking to other shave forums I'll put together a seperate post with links to all the guides.

Hi Andy, nice to meet you here, too (If I recall, you answered a question for me on TSD a while back). Your Dummies guides have been a fantastic resource for me as I continue transforming into a Schick-head! Thanks for stopping by and posting!
Eric

When I first got into injector razors I remember trying to use the older Schick alphabet guides and after reading it and having had some of the razors thought what a cluster*$#! it was. I appreciated that someone tried to document the razors but it was far from a completed or cohesive overview. That is when archivist in me came out and systematically bought and compared razors along with researching out sale dates and such. From that first came a timeline thread then the expanded dummies guides That built upon the original alphabet guide. riverrun has also added the dummies guides to his website. Only thing with that is they don't show up in the search engines as readily as the dummies guides do these days. If he sees this post he can respond with the website since I don't know what it is right now.

Now that is an interesting back story, thanks for sharing it! And riverrun, we'd all love to see your website, I'm sure!

Today's shave, just fantastic. Noble Otter Bare is really one of the best soaps I have used.

What Dave said... Awesome looking setup, with a stunning brush. What a great picture Eric. Are we looking at the new resident photographer?!

Karve with B solid bar, and thanks again to AlanH81 for making it so shiny I had to dim the lights to take this photo!
Rapira Platinum Lux (2)
Noble Otter Bare
and my new favorite brush, Nacar Oscuro!

Special guest appearance by Ring Elephant, because you don't often get to see elephants and otters in the wild together!

Shave was superb, all the kit did their respective parts well, and instead of an "additive" shave, it was synergistic, almost epic! (ok, too much hyperbole, right?!)

Thursday, let's have a good one!
