OK, time for that update I have mentioned a couple of times. By Monday we had no responses. My wife was getting more and more anxious, and depressed. She sent several messages to her local gastro, literally begging for help. No response, other than a Saturday response saying "I know you are worried, but these things take time, and I am on vacation next week."

I got home very late Monday night, having had a hellish work day (see previous post) to find my wife looking very distraught, and on the verge of tears. As we looked at what happened and what wasn't happening, we decided to ask the referring doctor to make another referral, this time to a doc in Portland.

While composing the message, her phone rings, with a Boston area code showing. It is 10:05 pm, and it is the specialist calling! He was still at the hospital, and was looking over my wife's file. He needed more information, and decided rather than go through all the steps of trying to explain to his assistant what he wanted, and then hoping the assistant would correctly convey the information to my wife's provider and get an appropriate and accurate and timely response, he decided to go straight to the source!

We had a very productive 15 minute call, and we we know that we made the right decision. This doc is empathetic, and put my wife at ease. Surgery may happen, but more info is needed.

What is really cool is that the team is about 30 people, and all will look at her file. Given technology, they want access to all the original scans, not the interpretive reports.

So our first team meeting is next Friday, a telemed conference call, and we will get moving. The best news was that at this time, given the reports he has read, the surgeon does not believe that my wife needs to be rushed into surgery.

Things are much lighter now, still with some anxiety, but no longer feel like impending doom is at the door.

I'll update as appropriate, and thanks for all the support expressed to us!

Glad good news is happening at home at least. Work is............................why it's called work Cool

Good point on the muscle memory, that fits with me shaving shallow as if I was using an injector! Thanks!

That's great news Eric! Looks like the Boston route was the right one, just based on your initial chat.

Fat Thursday!

The puck of Mitchell's Wool Fat arrived yesterday. I placed it in a empty tub that is just a tad bigger than the puck, watered it before bed, and had no gremlins form!! The scent is a clean, soapy, and something else I can't put my olfactory receptors on, but it seems okay and it does seem fleeting. I was able to get a decent lather, but I suspect it can be better, with more water and time spent. I face lather after loading the puck. Maybe bowl lather this? We'll see. And even though the tub is "a tad bigger," it still leaves the puck room to move around. So I think grating is in order.

We had our first telehealth meeting with the NP who is setting up the appoints, and found that the meeting next Friday with the team is NOT a conference call, but an in person meeting. So, up at the butt-crack of dawn or earlier to be in the office in Boston by 9 AM. But the wheels are moving and the meeting this morning was very helpful and this NP very patient with my wife, who can struggle to get thoughts out as some meds she is on impair her short term memory, usually when she needs to rely on the memory. But I was sitting next to her, and we got it done!

Back to shaving, I think Dave hit it right yesterday, Muscle Memory. I held the General a little steeper and got a great shave, even if the Fat wasn't as slick as it can be. Thanks Dave!

That's good, imo, Eric. The technology these days is wonderful. But you're just never going to get it to the same level of in-person meetings. You're going to have their attention more thoroughly for sure. Not to mention, an actual meeting puts a real world face to a name. She won't just be someone on the computer, it'll be more human.

I hope everything there goes as well as it can. Still praying for you.

Hope everything goes as well as possible next Friday Eric.
Boston is a cool town. Been a long time since I was up there. Like 19 years. My daughter was two when we were up there. Drivers are psychotic around Boston. And now she just moved up there so now I have that worry. Nothing I can do.  Oh well.
Always enjoy your updates buddy.
Take care,
Fluffy
