That is extremely un-welcome news Eric. You and the Misses will be in my thoughts. Unfortunately cancer has effected both Melinda's and my families. Fortunately the outcomes have all been so far very good. That is what I will be hoping happens for you guys.

Good plan to get it behind you fast as you can. Hoping for a false positive when all is done. Thoughts and prayers for you and your better half !

We got the call today that the operation will be tomorrow early afternoon, at the hospital one town over. We have to show up early that morning for her COVID test, then report to same day surgery in the early afternoon. We were told to plan on overnight, just in case. So glad I have intermittent FMLA on file, it was fairly easy to call my scheduler and say I need some time off that is covered by FMLA, so no repercussions for missed work. Missed pay is another story, but who needs vaykay anyway?!

This came upon us quicker than we imagined and a whole faster than what we were told Friday (1-2 weeks to set up), but we are happy to move quickly if the worse case is the valid. Better out than in. We still hope for the best result to the tissue biopsy, but as they were planning to take the gall bladder due to stones making too many issues, so we are glad it is happening now.

Hoping for a good evening, chicken tacos on the menu, but I know our minds will be trying to stay on the What Ifs of tomorrow.

Usually fasting is required for surgery, so the wife is probably missing out on tacos? Let's hope that the last bad news for the whole ordeal. Fingers crossed.

In shaving tales, some new things arrived!


First up, my first shave yesterday with the Yates H plate. First impressions are positive, and I find it gave a great shave without too much drama and white-knuckling either the counter or the razor!  Today, as a day off of work, I put the M plate on and used the heavy/stubby handle, and was rewarded with a very smooth and efficient shave. So next will have to be the H plate and the heavy handle. The weight of the handle changes the shave, and I am curious to see how it affects the H plate. With the M using a blade on its second use, I skipped a pass as I felt I had enough done! I don't recall feeling it so close with M and the longer, lighter handle.



And today, this beauty showed up, in a trade with Paul. I had a bronze New York TiBam that he was interested in, and he found "Cities from Space", shined it up more, and the deal was done! Being a SF fan, this one "spoke" to me, and I keep calling it Cities in Space! 

Also, Paul, being Paul (ie, a man of integrity and character!) has agreed to take a look at a handle I purchased from him early on, and see if he can buff it up and put a shine on it. I asked him after seeing what he did with a maple handle he had done something similar to, and it looked great. Paul, work you magic, man! And as I said I would, "Everyone! I am NOT holding Paul responsible if anything goes awry! Re-working an already finished handle is tricky, and results may vary." This is said with a smile on my face, but I am serious about no problems if there is a problem or even a disaster! It's just a handle, and I'll get over it, ha ha.

This is the one going in for the tune up. One of my many Trotter Handcrafts faves!!

Good point, Paul, I didn't think of that. We better have them as an early supper/late lunch!

I LOVE that brush and glad you have it. Happier that you got in quick for the surgery and hoping all goes well !!!

Quick update, the procedure is an upper scope again, but with more looking and sampling. No operating planned. Sorry for the misinformation!
