Scentsless Shaver
Oakland, ME
After much work to corral all the various providers' notes and letters, and working almost daily on her letter to the Bureau of Insurance, we finally got the packet done and submitted. I am the official typist. We used a Chromebook and my laptop, with Google Docs so we could share in real time, which allowed her to watch the work and tell me what needed to change or put somewhere else, and got it done! What a load off our backs and minds. Everything was submitted by this past Monday, about a week ago, but it can take up to 30 days for an external, independent review to take place. We are very hopeful that this review will be similar to the one in late 2019 that overturned the insurance denial.

In shave news, I am working on getting Really Comfortable daily shaves using the Vector. I struggle with all the lather being removed, and am working on a couple of different tacks to see if that can change. It is the lack of residual slickness that can make the shave become irritating. What I am finding is a very light touch, which for me gave new meaning to "no pressure," and almost overhydrating the soap. In another place, a gent told me that he doesn't rinse between passes, but sprays water from a bottle on his face in order to leave any residual lather and build more. He has the General, which he said can also remove EVERYTHING during a pass. No one else seems to complain of this, so I am thinking it must be a method and technique problem on my behalf.

In any case, the Vector gives superb results that last long into the day for me, which I really appreciate at work, even if I don't have to be masked all the time.

This weekend, I got 2 shaves in with the new to me Schick Type G amber handle:

I have another Type G, the cream-colored handle, and I think this one (amber) shaves just a tad more aggressive (at least, Thayer's WH seems to indicate some irritable spots!). But I really dig the handle, so I will "hug it and pet it and call it George." No, just kidding, no to the George name. But I will keep it!

There is also a very dirty but good looking under the crud Type I Hydro-magic headed my way. I am looking forward to cleaning it up and getting a nice injector out of the deal.

And lastly, on the hobby front, I received some CA solution to see if I can add some more coats of finish to a handle without gluing my hand to the handle! Paul showed how to do it and I think I have a spot on the bottom of a handle that I scuffed up, and want to make it glossy again. So if I haven't posted again in a week that may mean my hands are glued to something and I can't type!

Hope everyone has a great rest of the day!

Yikes! I got bit by the Vector! Maybe if I wear an eyepatch I can be a pirate!

Here are some before photos of the Hydro-magic that arrived yesterday.

I let it soak overnight in soapy water, and got a mostly clean razor this morning.

As you can see, the underside of the lever went from caked with gunk to tarnished. I tried a small amount of Flitz polish paste, but it didn't seem to have an effect. I can't feel anything, so maybe that gunk removed whatever gold-colored plating?

I agree with Dave. That's a big improvement, and smartly done too.
