This morning I enjoyed 2 mugs of my limited edition Clown Coffee. I could not tell you exactly what beans were in the canister, but there was enough for the mugs! My best guess is between 5 and 8 different single origin roasts, ranging from medium light to dark. Amazing to me was that it smelled like good coffee and tasted deep and full, with a pleasant mouth feel and no bitterness as it cooled.

And a good shave with the Black and White, no more color bleeding!

Question of the week: Where are the razors and shaving cream?

Yesterday I received the 28mm SynBad fan knot in the morning post. I have been like a dog worrying a bone, not giving up on finding a 28mm SynBad knot that feels as soft as the first 2 I got a few years back. This one is it! My thanks to Paul Stubble Daddy, both for the handle he made and for posting some SOTD shots that had a fan knot, of which I wasn't aware. Andrew at AP Shave Co has a tutorial on knots and setting on his site, and this knot is practically perfect in every way! The softness of clouds swirling lather onto my face. The wisdom of Ken Fluffy is not to be denied, the Cashmere knot is the one that has the wings of butterflies applying the lather!

For the first time on purpose (everyone needs a porpoise. (sorry, inside joke from my favorite British police crime novels)) that I used 2 razors. The Yates Hybrid OC for the over 48 hours whisker growth (yes, I was lazy yesterday), followed by the CB Karve A plate. The Yates OC is fantastic, nothing like it in my experience, no harsh teeth feeling from the OC. and the A plate was one smooth operator. If I hadn't switched the blade from one to the other, I would have checked to see if the Karve had a blade in it. But there was audible feedback, and what a fantastic finish. As Tim MilkCratesays, Right as Rain.



So then, with a smooth and happy face, I went to the interwebs to spend time that I will never get back. But I like to believe it is spent with some good friends. To really enjoy the time, I brewed a small pot of French press coffee, Sumatra roast from local roaster Wicked Joe's Coffee in Topsham. Life is indeed good!

I have yet to try a synbad knot. They do sound pretty skippy.  I used to be a pretty solid synthetic advocate. Then some wiseguy named John DeepSea  sent me a badger brush. 
now I have added two more. One replacing the original knot in my Razorock 400.  So as it stands now. 3 badger, 1 boar (Omega) and 1 synthetic (cashmere). 
When I finally get a chance to make a handle over my dads shop. I will have to decide on which knot to pop in it. The Synbad and Silk smoke are two that are on my radar.

I learned something new from ALI in a thread about No 75 razors. They can be sneaky, razors that is!

And my shave today with the CB Karve with the safety bar A plate was a sneakily close shave! My concern is that I want to press harder, to hear or feel more whiskers getting cut. But that can lead to irritation. So I worked hard at not pressing. And I got a closer shave than I imagined! So, sneaky razors are a thing!

And now maybe some comparisons with mrdoug, who was going to use his new 2BED synth brush today. I used mine as well, and I need to walk back my comments about pokiness! This brush is wonderful. Yes, it has more backbone than my SynBads, and so sometimes I apply too much pressure and that's when I get poked. But when I stayed to swirling and painting, and a trick I read somewhere about using your chin to start the splay, then I experienced the wonder of an Extra Dense 2 Band synthetic badger brush.
How did your outing go, Paul?

For the other particulars, the soap was Mike's Natural Soaps unscented and a Bic Chrome Platinum blade (2). The Mike's soap is and always has been a great performer for me. I did go nuts for the last 2-3 months, buying lots of new to me unscented soaps. Going back to Mike's, which has been in the drawer continually since January 2016, I have to ask myself Why buy others? The answer, variety. I tried the minimalist thing for over a year, but I am enjoying trying other stuff. Maybe someday things will decrease, but I can't see it right now.
