Fantastic, the open comb is the best feeling one I have experienced. I had given up on open combs, with the best being a Maggards that I had back in 2016, and sold as I went vintage. But the Gillettes were too toothy for my baby face!  The Fatip was too harsh feeling, and the Karve just seemed too rough on the edges or something. I am very pleased that I have an open comb that feels good.

The M plate today, as well as the solid side yesterday, shaved closer than I remembered, and I managed to nick my lower lip yesterday, then catch that invisible spot again this morning. Bummer, hate leaking. It was nothing, but I had almost zero with the Vector over 7 days, so what the heck?!

Wednesday I plan to try the H plate for a work morning. Tomorrow will be the M again. I am trying the stubby handle, and not sure about it yet. I thought the long, skinny handle was okay and figured I'd like the short one better. But it didn't wow me. Maybe it was using the longer, skinny Vector handle, and now the Yates feels too short, fat and heavy? I may try the skinny handle tomorrow to see.

In any event, while I am enjoying the Yates, I miss the Vector! And I have the Sabre waiting to be used.  After the nick this morning (or is that re-nick?), I briefly thought of the BST, as I am so happy with the Vector, the Karve, and the Sabre. In the back of my mind, I have been stewing over letting the Karve or Yates go, and keep the one I like best. Just a thought swirling around in the gray matter!

Have a great day, even if her name is Monday (see Ken aka Fluffy for his last Monday's pic!)

As some may know, at times I can be impulsive. Usually I think something over, but other times I just go for it and live with the consequences. Often, the consequences are small, sometimes not being known until much later, like when I impulsively sold a very nice Schick I2 hydromagic, and a year later wish that I still had it.

So yesterday, a gent posted that he wanted a bead-blasted H plate for his Yates razor. Last week, I got the H, the hybrid, and the stubby handle. I thought and thought. I read some reviews of the H, how it feels. And given my propensity for mild razors, and that I can get great close shaves with SE razors, I sent a PM to the guy. I think we'll both be happy. I originally was going to use it today and decide if I wanted to sell it, but one look into the box of razors convinced me that I already have things I am not using as I prefer others, so just sell it. I enjoy trying out stuff (who doesn't!!) but I think I am hitting critical mass again with razors and soaps. Too many on my mind, plaguing me with "am I using it enough" and "that last shave wasn't great" and the like. So the H plate, new and unused, is going to Texas, sold for what I paid, and I picked up shipping and fees to make it worth the buyer paying full price.

In shave news, I put the long Yates handle on the M plate and had a spectacular 2 pass, multi-directional shave. I think I get better control with that long handle, after a week with the Vector's handle. Maybe the bead blasted short handle will find a new home. It has the length I like, 3 inches I think, but it is thicker and heavier than I like. The Noble Otter continues to impress with the nice lather it works up.

Have a great day all!

Edit: forgot to add, today we meet with someone at the Bureau of Insurance to discuss a plan for appealing the denial of treatment for my wife, I am off to read info to prepare now.

Thanks Dave. We should come up with some good strategery! Things are in our favor, we need to convince insurance company that health is more important than profits!

Good luck with the insurance issue Eric, hope thinks start to work in your favor. We're all rooting for you!

Regarding the shave stuff: (1) You can't sweat the small stuff. (2) It's all small stuff. If you have at least 1 razor you really dig, everything else is gravy.

The meeting went very well. We have a plan. We will start to get the final documents and start the process, hopefully within a week. We are kind of at the mercy of a busy specialist, but we may have to go forward without a letter from him and rely on his office notes, which we do have.

Thanks for your support!

The week of the Yates has ended. The hybrid plate really impressed me, and yesterday I had a super close shave with the open comb side. I used the OC for all passes. Historically, most open combs' teeth irritate my face after the first pass, if not during that pass. But the Yates' OC doesn't feel like an OC to my face! I even checked to make sure I had the correct side against my face, it was so smooth! And the real surprise came late in the evening, when I realized how smooth my face still felt. Hot Dog! So I now have 2 great DE razors for me, the Karve B plate and the Yates M and hybrid plates. My trusty Slim and the stalwart pre-War Tech are just a step behind, but still great razors.

On to Single Edge razors again. This upcoming week will be daily use of the Sabre, Level 1 plate initially. I have been anxiously waiting to use this again (after borrowing one from Dave). I plan to use one of the blades Shane included, even though I bought some off Amazon (GEM SS, but the package doesn't mention coating. Dave in KY , are the blades you sent me coated? I swiped them, and sent a new pack thinking I was replacing them, but now wonder if I swindled you unintentionally.)

In the Insurance Denial battle, we are working on mustering our forces for the main salvo. Awaiting letters from the docs, and working on our own. We are approaching the "damn the torpedoes (mines), full speed ahead!" mode, which can mean more long days for us both and lack of sleep as we finish things up. This can be tricky, as we both can get irritable when tired and stressed, and we need to keep our focus on the true bad guy!

The ones I sent are coated ones. Haven't looked at the pack you sent but I'm not worried. Get back to the torpedos and good thoughts on remembering who the enemy is. Be a unified force to be reckoned with.
