Thanks, Freddy, that does help me, hearing from someone who has been using SE razors for much longer than my 3 - 4 weeks!

Based on some observations by Freddy and BBS I set the Parker adjustable injector to 5. Wow, I wasn't expecting that! Previously, 3 was mild and tame, and very comfortable. 4 seemed to be a little more aggressive feeling, and yielded a close shave. I expected 5 to follow suit, but instead it seemed deceptively mild while delivering a very close shave. I am very pleased! And this was the ninth shave on the blade, a Schick made in China.

I do have a question about single edge blade life. I have read many posts, but it seems to be all over the place for life of a blade. For the Vector, I plan to put in a fresh blade soon, as the Proline was in a slip from Try A Blade sampler. What do yous guys think about single edge blades and shave life? Truly a personal matter or should I expect a minimum number of shaves?

Thanks for reading! Have a great day.

I think a good minimum number of shaves on single edge blades should be 6 on a Gem single edge blade and 7 for injector or AC blades. The amount of passes you do may also affect blade life. I am basing those numbers on 5 pass shaves.

AC blades are all over the place in sharpness I'd definitely try a sampler pack of AC blades to find if you need a sharp blade like Parker injector razor does. Prolines are fairly mild compared to the Feather blades. If you didn't like that blade because it was too mild I'd definitely try a Feather Professional next and if too aggressive try a Kai Captain blade.

Blade life is a fairly dependent on personal preferences. Depends on many factors. I will very often get 10 or more 3-pass shaves on my usual blades - DE, AC, or injector. I seem to be the odd one out when most people quote blade life though, it always seems they get less than I do.

These Schick Proline are surpassing my normal Feather Pros in every way for the Vector so far.

Today was a fresh Proline in the Vector, and just 2 passes. I paid more attention, as I believe GearNoir mentioned for daily Vector shaving, and was rewarded with a great shave!

In other news, yesterday's procedure that my wife had went well, but what a long day. She is doing well today, and I think doing better overall, which is what we'd hoped for but weren't sure would happen. So right now we are calling it a win!

Thanks to all of you for making our shared obsession with shaving a welcome relief and distraction to the craziness around us. That is all I want to say. Keep calm and shave on.
