That's a cool mug, Dave!
I printed this out and put it up in the back of the pharmacy last year around the time of performance evaluations.

In another place, someone posted a video of a guy using a bowl like mine (CaYuen Workshop) and how he made lather with it. It was sort of a DIY video. And he was a bit out there! And, while I have read of folks accusing some 'tubers as having already shaved before filming themselves shaving, this one had me wondering! All that aside though, not relevant, and Dave, he is not in your league AT ALL!! However, it was this technique for bowl lathering that intrigued me. He takes a what he called a grape-sized amount of soap scraped off the top of his puck, and mashes it into the center of the bowl, down into the grooves. (I thought it looked more like half a grape, as we must have different grapes in mind!) He only barely dampens the tips of his brush (synthetic) and uses a cool spray bottle to mist water onto the soap in the bowl.

Cool bottle, because instead of spraying, it delivers a prolonged misting of water. The lady who cuts my hair has one, and my wife recently got one for herself.

Since I was using a boar, I soaked mine while preparing, then removed as much water as possible before starting to load and build lather. After a few swirls, I did a spray. I think I sprayed two more times, taking my time to load. Rod's video was what started the thread, and I had watched it first. In it, Rod emphasizes NOT mashing the brush, but just letting the tips do their thing. Lately when I have been loading, while not mashing, I have started loading at a slant to expose more bristles to the soap and for the boar to really get the soap into the brush. Not today. I did as Rod instructed and used my wife's spray bottle. It took longer, but the Ethos Tibu Sabuni rewarded me with a bountiful, creamy lather!

And speaking of Dragonsbeard's Tibu Sabuni, what a great post-shave experience! My routine is shave, then Zingari Recovery Splash, then a topical medicated gel for rosacea, and finally a moisturizer, typically Zingari Man's balm. Well, I forgot to do the balm, because even after the gel was applied, my face didn't feel dry or tight! I have got to use this cream more often.

Wishing you all a safe New Year's Eve and best wishes to you all for the upcoming year!

Hey Eric, magnetic fly boxes work great for blade storage.  I store AC, DE, FHS-10, GEM, INJ, and HS blades in them.  The blades don't slide around, and they don't fall out if you turn the box upside down (although tempting fate is not advised Smile).   The Post-it Tabs are removable, and for me, they often make keeping track of things easier - especially when shaving at o'dark 30.    And speaking of making things easier, a small magnet, while not strictly necessary, makes blade removal a breeze.

My tray came in and I'm using it already. But I found out we are Post-It-less!! So I am about to look on the 1 stop shopping site. The Post-Its tabs you have fit perfectly, made me wonder if they are under the foam even! Is there a specific size? I'm being lazy and in minutes will probably find the answer, but I would like to know what you got there Mike!

I did order two, because I like the look of the second one Mike posted. That one is probably on the same boat as yours! I have an estimated delivery date of January 9th, I think!

I brought a ruler to the box last night, and the compartments are 1" in width. The tabs on Amazon come as 0.625" and 1", so based on your photos the 1" are ordered! Along with a cool telescoping screw/bolt/nut retriever with Ken's Fluffy favorite addition, a magnet! I thought I had one of these already, but upon digging through my tool box (yes, only the one, two left thumbs, remember?!) I found that what I had was the telescoping dental mirror. No idea why I have that, and kind of bummed I hadn't bought both whenever I bought the mirror. Not to worry now, I'll have the cool tool soon enough. At first I wasn't sure I'd need one, but trying to pry those blades up, even if the magnetic pad is super strong, I can foresee a nasty cut if I don't at least try the magnet tool!
