That sounds like a wonderful initial report Eric. Glad to hear it. Hope it continues to grow on you! When you get good and comfortable with it, don't forget the quarter turn. For me, that is a game changer. Not sure why all razors don't have that built in washer. Lol.
Looking forward to hearing more as you continue testing. Be well and happy Friday!

Could you restate that quarter-turn idea? I seem to remember it made the razor more aggressive/efficient? Thanks!
So, there is a metal washer built into the baseplate. It creates a LOT of tension / clamping. Of course, it probably helps keep the blade rigid, blah blah. But the bonus is, it allows you to unscrew the razor head, somewhere around 1/4 turn, without losing much tension. It stays really well clamped, but the gap opens up a bit.
I used this for my cleanup pass to get the pesky little hairs and achieve BBS much easier.
Fwiw, if I try this with the Overlander (which I do... that's how much I like that "feature") I fight to keep the head from unscrewing further. It doesn't have the pressure of that washer.

Thanks to Eric MaineYooper and Paul mrdoug. Between the two of you, you have taught me some useful things about the Henson AL13. Like Eric, I recently picked up an AL13 from Pasteur, but mine just shipped today. For some time now, I've been gravitating towards lighter, milder razors. The 37g weight of the aluminum Henson appealed to me, and after having had success with the Timeless Aluminum razor, I had no appetite for the Henson Titanium price tag. Just as important to me, are the blade clamping and angle of the Henson design, which has intrigued me for quite some time. And as it happens, I was surfing Pasteur's sale anyway for another item, ran across the Henson, and after going back and forth in my mind, I settled on the medium and pulled the trigger. I had no idea about the 1/4 turn on the Henson, although some years back, I owned a double open comb razor with that feature. So now the Henson intrigues me even more than when I bought it. Um, thanks guys.

I think that between the Henson, the Overlander, and the Tatara Masamune I should be all set and no longer needing a new modem DE. Notice the caveats!

Here is the most of the setup for the coming week, starting today.
By the end of November, 2015, I was using the Silver Blue Gillettes quite frequently, along with the Green 7 o'clock Gillettes as well. Since DecemBoar starts this Friday, I want to get as many different brushes used as I can (to get it out of my system!) before going to just boar brushes. Also by the first week of December, 2015, I had spent money at Maggards on my first ever shaving Black Friday. I thought it would be fun to find my first synthetic, the Maggard Purple Swirl, and use it at least once this week. Alas, I have turned things upside down (much to my wife's dismay) and cannot find that brush. I know I didn't give it away or sell it, as it was my backup travel brush and had some sentimental value to me. But it is nowhere to be found. It's probably hanging out with all the missing socks and lost tools somewhere!

Well, I hope it shows up before the week ends. I'll say a prayer to Saint Anthony for ya.

That stinks, but these things have a way of turning up eventually even if later than we wanted them. Hope that's the case....

It’s probably with my tub of Atomic Pumpkin shaving soap. I looked everywhere for that soap this fall until I’d convinced myself that I had never actually owned such a soap but only the aftershave. Then I came across an old SOTD picture on my phone if that soap!! So I did have it at one time, but it’s nowhere I know of now.
