I missed a couple of calendar events yesterday! First was Hump Day (yeah, probably you're all happy with that!) and the other was my shaviversary, 8 years since I first picked up that scary, double-edged Merkur 34HD and attempted to not cut my nose, lips, or ears off!
And today I had a mail call! Paul
mrdoug picked up a sweet looking Overlander a while back, and I talked my self into getting one with a green baseplate and stand. It arrived today and I plan to use it this weekend, with a German Red blade (if you haven't been following Paul's Journal, we have been discussing how the Personna Reds are packaged and produced with several different packaging plans (based on where produced) and can be confusing to the Personna initiate). This one is definitely from the German plant so it is the newer "Israeli Red."
Here is a quick photo of the two different Red tucks. The top is the older, made in Israel, verison. The bottom is the newer, made in Germany, version. I don't detect any difference between them, in fact, I don't think I find any difference between them and the Personna Comfort Coated!
The other item arriving today was a new to me, very slightly used, Tatara Masamune Dark boar brush.
This will match my Masamune razor and I think just looks cool! And yes, DecemBoar is just around the corner. Two years ago I went nuts with accumulating boar brushes both before and during Decemboar. Then I sold or PIF'd many of them, keeping only 2 in rotation. One is from Paul, and is in a retored Ever Ready handle and is a wonderful Maggard premium boar knot. The other is a Semogue SOC boar in the cherry wood handle. Earlier this year, I added another SOC boar, in the Taj handle, and today this one, which is also a Semogue knot. I plan to use these four for this year's DecemBoar.
