Nice. Welcome back to the dark side, err double edge side.

Zingari man makes a good soap, those shaves should be quite enjoyable.

At some point I may try an injector again, but it didn't excite me the last time. Couple in the more expensive blade price and it's just not alluring. [Image: 826d99be6403fd5fcd8dd75cee8a87e4.jpg]

Been waiting for the restock at the Yates site, and a lot was restocked last night. So a hybrid plate and an H plate are ordered. I wanted to get the shorter handle as well, but those did not get restocked yet. I have been really pleased with the Yates, and think I will end up with it and the Karve as my main two DE razors. When the Blackbird returns from its KY road trip, I will send it to the photographer to get some head shots before its debut on the BST.

Quiet day here, but sunny!  More battles with insurance. Out of nowhere, they denied further coverage of IV medication that made a big difference in my wife's life. We fought for almost a year (most of 2019) to get it covered, having exhausted appeals and finally getting an independent review through the Maine Bureau of Insurance. That review found in our favor, and the bloated insurance company had to pay. Well, almost a year after that victory, we got the denial letter. First shot fired and we returned fire, only to be denied again. Well, we're not effing around this time with all the appeals. After talking with the Bureau, we will be filing an for expedited independent review, again. Lord willing, this will be settled within a month. In the mean time, my wife's illness is progressing again, and her quality of life and her overall health seems to be diminishing right before our eyes.

Thanks for reading, even if it isn't as light as my normal drivel.  I needed to get that off my chest and I know some of you knew about the fight last year.  And thanks in advance for the support I know you will have for us!

Man, that sucks. Hopefully it'll be quicker this time, considering they already lost once?

Best of luck to you, and especially to your wife who absolutely does not need this crap right now.

I'll keep you folks in my prayers!

Thanks, Doug. Yeah, they lost in Feb 2020. Their whole thing is a technicality based on "approved uses" even though they pay for many drugs prescribed "off label". Those are just designations as to whether the original patent owner paid to have studies done on that particular disease state. But other studies are done, by individuals and hospitals, showing a particular drugs effectiveness or lack thereof in treating a similar disease to one that the drug was originally indicated for. And example is gabapentin for nerve pain and diabetic neuropathy. Originally, the FDA indication was as an anticonvulsant. But it works so much better for neuropathies! So it is used almost predominantly "off label"
Hope that isn't too much info. My point was that the drug my wife needs is for an indication right next door to the labelled ones, speaking figuratively. There is even a current study being done in New England, at Mass. General Hospital, but the insurance company is holding on to the off label excuse. It doesn't help the IV drugs are insanely expensive. And that is what this really boils down to, money.

What you said is perfect! The whole thing was that feel of "what?! Are you kidding?!"
We took this weekend "off" to try and relax, rest, and regroup.
Thanks for your words. I mean it, they were perfect.

A very relaxing shave today with the Yates M-921.  I am excited to try the other plates, but am going to wait. I did purchase them, and then emailed Jake at YPM, and he nicely agreed to hold the order until the 3.25" handle was back in stock. As Dave in KY  mentioned in his Journal today, we have great folks in this community (even Fluffy Tongue) .
Off to a telemed appt now. Cool that I only have to have a decent shirt on, and situate myself so any mess or disorder isn't seen, as well as the sweats I have on!  I wonder if the doc is fully dressed, or in Bermuda shorts with a "doctorly" shirt on?!
