A beauty of a shave, eh!

But, I reset the knot higher, and dang if it doesn't look crooked to me! The pose above is the least noticeable to my eye, but I am off to the basement laboratory to pull it and try again!

And a quick programming note: I am swiping this from a fellow who goes by RenoRichard in another neighborhood: SEpGemBoar! I will do some of that after my injector phase this week!

I don’t think I’ve said it yet, but I dig that brush.

Thanks! AlanH81 gave me a great deal and even polyurethaned it!

Schick Type I, 1st variant, style 1, 1954-58 (shorter lever, no writhing) according to BBS' Dummies Guide. This was my first injector and remains tops! I can always count on it to deliver an efficient yet extremely comfortable shave!
Blade was a new Proline B-20 blade
2BED APSCo knot in the Trotter Messier handle
Soap as shown, my benchmark soap

A fantastic shave and I am ready for coffee and the forums! Hope you all have a great day!

Ending my Schick week with the Canadian Type E. This razor delivers a close and comfortable, easy shave for me. I have not tried the American Type Es as I have read they can be aggressive. I have tried several aggressive injectors (all Type G amber handles) and decided that if the E is like that, I'll pass. The non-amber handled Type G is another fave like the Type E Canadian, for my face.

It was nice to revisit my injectors, the others being 2 Type I Hydromagic variants, and an adjustable Type M. I could easily use any of them exclusively and be happy. But most of us enjoy the variety of this hobby, and so next week it is mostly GEMs, of which I again have a nice collection of a few favorites after trying many.

And I am going to use at least one boar brush if not more. I am swiping a phrase from a guy on B&B and calling next week SEpGemBoar Week! I am looking forward to it!

SEpGemBoar week for me!

GEM Clog Pruf Peerless (17 nibs, mfg 1945-46)
Personna GEM PTFE blade, corked (1)
House of Mammoth Z (for Zero scent)
TGN boar in Trotter Cascadia Line handle

I have never corked a blade before. I have stropped a blade once loaded on a dry face cloth, for when I had concerns of the first shave being too much for me, like when I had the SS Vector and a new blade loaded. Or a Feather DE when I finally tried one! At the beginning of the month, I put a new GEM PTFE blade into my GEM Damaskeene and had a rough shave. That had never happened before. The shave did not improve when I moved the blade to the Junior, either. So, I tabled the GEMs and switched to a focus on injectors last week. This week's focus will be on my vintage GEMs and boar brushes. The shave was as awesome as I recall shaves being with the Peerless! Was it the corking? Or was it a bad blade the opening week? I don't know. But today was back to normal and tomorrow I will move the blade to the Damaskeene.

Secondary goal is to reduce a soap! I have some earmarked for the 1508.5 project and am currently working on the Black Tie #13. But in digging for the "alternate" soap for the week, I found Z and it has a small hole formed already. It will be the soap this week and we'll see how much larger that hole can be made! No downsides at all, as the soap is outstanding!

GEM Cutlery Damaskeene (Many thanks to Dave in KY for this razor, my bestest GEM), made from 1915 to 1919, so more than 100 years old!
Personna GEM (2)
House of Mammoth Z
TGN boar in Cascadia Line by Stubble Daddy Paul's Trotter Handcrafts

Of note is the GEM Micromatic handle attached to the Damaskeene head. This handle is curtesy of Greg who repurposes bustud Micromatics. He tapped the top of the handle to take a more standard thread, and included an adapter that threads into the handle and has the smaller threading to thread into the Damaskeene head. I should have a photo of it but didn't think of it at the time!

Lovely shave, and the Damaskeene was so easy to use with that slightly longer handle. The purist in me doesn't want to admit that a Frankenrazor can be better, but this felt good in hand with the longer handle!
