Yup, furnace shut off over night, so weekend emergency repair call. Oh joy. The furnace has a computer that needs the tech to be able to access. All the owner gets is an on/off switch and an LCD screen that flashes Danger, Will Robinson! But on the bright and warm side, we should have heat again! Very manageable 65 inside, but my wife's illness makes her extremely sensitive to temp changes, so the sooner we get heat back, the better she'll be. I have her tucked into bed with blankest, heating pad, small ceramic space heater, and a cat! I kept one cat for me, but he prefers the sunroom, which is cooler (in all senses!) and has the birdfeeders to monitor. Traitor.

Hope your Saturday is less expensive and going better!
Typical humorous and funny read but sorry about the heat. In laws was out today too but we got them online again. Gas company had to replace the meter. Hope yours is back soon.

Thanks, Dave! If it was January, the humor would be absent! I am thankful it happened now. Furnace man says faulty pressure switch, so he is making me a "jumper" to make sure we are okay until the part comes in. Temp almost back to preferred temp for my wife. Glad I have used this company for years, they take care of us. The price will be what it is, and we will be glad for heat!

Glad you got the in laws squared away. Ah, meters! I forgot what those were. For the last 20 years I have lived in Maine, and there is only recently piped natural gas to homes in some areas of some towns. The rest of us use fuel oil tanks or a propane "pig" on site. We have propane.

Well said Dave!

Eric:  Good luck with the furnace.

Dave:  Glad you got the in-laws back online.

Thanks, Mike! All working now, with parts on order and a jumper switch if needed.

Natural Gas Company has taps up the end of the road from us and if I wanted the unsightly upfront cost of piping it to myself I could get free gas like some do here but it has been known to freeze and then you are without. I was late to this party in the neighborhood and decided to sit it out.........

Because I know you all don't want to miss any of my nuggets of nonsense, I am posting here to say I did 2 edits on my latest post in DecemBoar. I don't think notifications show up for editing.

Busy times with brushes, both setting and breaking in the newbies! This is a highly touted boar knot from Turn N Shave, the shoat boar knot, 26mm and tall! I opted for no gel treatment, and look forward to comparing notes with Paul, who I believe bought the half-treated knot. I liked the Timberwolf knot I had originally put in the Fluffy Industries Copper handle, but didn't love it. Not bad, just that I believed there could be better. I had a large 2BED and a Cashmere that I wanted to try, and then I got stampeded by a herd of boars. TNS had a big boar knot (bigger boar knots, sold as knots, seemed more difficult to locate. Maybe I just was looking in the right places, but I digress), and I thought if it fit, it would look great paired with this steampunk/retro/working man handle. This now says to me, "I mean business. Let's make some lather and get that stubble off your face!"

This is the current and hopefully final boar brush line up. I need to either trim my stash of brushes, soaps, and razors, or take over the other bathroom! (Seriously, I can't do that, as the master bath vanity is kitchen counter height, something I have come to love. No more stooping over the vanity, and no more sore back. Hey, I am getting older!)

I gave some details in the DecemBoar thread, but will be more detailed here. Starting on the left:
  1. Semogue Owners Club premium boar, 24mm, in a cherry wood handle, gift from Ben qwerty, who bears some responsibility for my new collection, as he started it!
  2. Zenith boar, 24mm, in chrome, gift from Tim MilkCrate, who also bears some responsibilty, being another push into boars!)
To be serious, these guys demonstrate the heart of our shared hobby. Thanks to both you guys for opening my eyes up to boar brushes!
  3. SOC Mistura (mixed) 50/50 boar/badger, 24mm in butterscotch Taj handle
  4. Shave Forge 28mm (according to seller) boar in black AP Shave Co handle
  5. TGN 24mm boar in Trotter Handcrafts Coho handle (our very own Stubble Daddy, a talented turner of handles, and a good friend)
  6. TGN 27mm boar in Trotter Handcrafts Cascadia Line handle
  7. Turn N Shave 26mm boar in Fluffy Industries Copper handle. Ken is another, like Ben and Tim above, who was so generous with his time and talents to gift me this wonderful handle.
  8. Semogue 22mm boar in a Galahad C-3 Imperial Red handle (no idea what C-3 means!)
  9. Semogue 830, 22mm dyed boar in red and clear acrylic handle

DecemBoar looks to be a lot of fun!

Great read Eric! I took over the spare bathroom and proceeded to rip out the pedestal sink and put a counter height vanity in. From one old guy with a bad back and joints to another, You can do it..........Just saying  Big Grin

Think about all of the brush storage you'll have if you got rid of all the useless pink stuff.
