I just received an email from a horsey friend visiting Australia. She informed me that yes, I was correct and water drains clockwise in the Southern Hemisphere. Oh good, I was worried. She is convinced there is surviving stock of the legendary Walers. I told her there is no way of knowing, all the men who knew them are gone and even her Quarterhorse isn't the same 18th century colonial racing pony. Then my mother voiced her displeasure over breakfast.I bought white eggs and of course brown are superior. I held my tongue and again wondered why I bothered with a AA in agriculture to use up my G.I. bill?
So I thought about shaving culture and our own folklore and debates; hanging brushes or setting on the handle base, White Mountain badgers smuggled
across the Russian border by mink hatted Boris for a flight to Moscow and beyond via government Badger bomber. Removing, drying and flipping razor blades? Magnets and pyramids to prolong sharpness? Do you realign the product logos like Mr Monk and if so in a cardinal direction or facing your favorite city? Do you make lather counter widdershins to rebel against the trauma of private church school?
Let's hear it.

I wet my face, lather up, just shave, rinse the razor and brush, done. Ritual is saved for my Loyal Order of Water Buffalo meetings.

A die.

Always a die by each razor to track uses per blade.

Mr. Monk knows what he's doing.

Brushes hang upside down for a couple of hours and then get turned up - I think the upside down advice is aimed at folks who put the brush away actually dripping wet but if its been shaken out then it will dry better bristle tips up.

I don't think I need a die to track uses on blade - I put a fresh blade in monday and it takes me to saturday usually. So, if its wednesday I must be on shave #3.

As for Mr. Monk, its the role of the human being to impose a degree of order on the chaos around us. We need to do it, it comforts us. Some of us take it a little further than others but we all do it. The agents of entropy never sleep. A case in point, I could have sworn my face felt smoother when I went to bed. Now its morning and I have to shave it again. Or should I say "get" to shave it again Big Grin

Heh. Just in case you're still a bit worried, here's someone going to a lot of trouble to empirically answer this question...

Same here, I just load a new one usually every Monday. That's why I avoid blades that dulls quickly even when they are good, I'm too cheap for blades.

I buy all these soaps and yet with blades I'm extremely frugal... weird.. Big Grin

Let's hear it.

But Kav, that would just be clockwise. Defeating the purpose of your rebellion. Wink

'Two wrongs don't make a right'- but three lefts do. The Sopwith Camel fighter developed so much torque from it's P.O. Bentley rotary engine pilots would just throw it into a hard left and come around to effect a maneuver to their right. The UK holds out driving on the right, as do carriage drivers worldwide. It goes back to being able to produce a weapon if accosted. I found my vintage RHD brit cars splendid for repelling drivebyes in L.A. Men's clothing buttons left over right to facilitate drawing a concealed weapon or exposed sword without catching on material. Women's clothing buttons right over left because period clothing used many buttons done up by a maid facing the garment.
