So … outstanding shave today, everything just clicked. I don’t have many, but I really dig the Feather blades. These blades in an Old Type … man, oh man. And some BBS goodness for the win!

On another note. Apologies for over sharing on my last post, I was mentally and physically exhausted. But no worries, I hit that struggle bus like it owed me money. Life is good!

I had been rocking the Torrey this week. But today I enjoyed the snooze button way too much and needed a quick shave. So the Old Type got the nod again and there were no regrets. Whipped up a really nice lather and got to it. Man, I will miss this tallow puck when it’s gone. But living in the moment this morning was so nice. Life is good!

No apologies needed here. We all need to hit the vent valve occasionally to release the pressure. Take care !

Great shave this morning and I’m rocking this set for the work week. Still moving on, enjoying the simple things and I didn’t realize I had been absent for so long again … squirrel.

Don’t know if I mentioned before but I have a Dob telescope. Nothing fancy and I have been side tracked researching DIY options to add automated tracking. Man, that’s a rabbit hole. After much reading, I think I am ready to start buying parts and give it a go. Yeah … I need another project, just ask the missus. Life is good!

Hi Tim! I have an EQ-mounted Newtonian reflector, and often wish I had a Dobsonian instead. And it is a rabbit hole! My scope and tripod were $400 back in '09 (Orion telescopes). I have added all sorts of gizmos, including a motor that allows tracking to hold the view. But... It is a chore setting all that up and an EQ mount can be a pain to move around, compared to the push/pull of the Dob.

I, too, have been sidelined for several years now, and the astronomy bug is starting to bite again! What has me excited/interested is that given the ubiquitous smartphone, you can now easily add the equivalent of computer-aided finding, and the on a Dob it makes finding a snap. There is nothing like finding and gazing at objects in the heavens. I know many guys in my local group have gone into astrophotography, and they have some dandy photos. But I love the star party vibe of seeing it with my eyeball!

May you have some clear skies and may we both get out and look up!

I have the Orion Skyquest XT8 and I am the same way about eyeballs instead of cameras. You feel more present, just a whole different vibe. I picked mine up second hand and have more in EPs than the scope. And I don’t know, there is just something about a truss dob that speaks to me. I tease the missus that one day I will get a scope bigger than her.
