Yup, cold weather in places that aren’t supposed to get weather that cold can cause problems. I saw this item in the news and found it a bit ironic given recent pipeline project cancellation throwing thousands out of work on both sides of the border.

That’s incredible. It’s got to be a state of emergency or whatever authorities call it. No heat, no power and no water in freezing temperatures is life threatening.

I think this is what’s called a black swan event. Nobody could have predicted it. The gas wells in Texas have frozen up and taken over 12 bcf/d of gas off line. That’s a lot.  They froze because producers don’t have to insulate/winterize wells in Texas because it doesn’t get that cold normally.  Demand on spot markets have spiked and so have prices so people who signed up for residential gas supply from discount resellers who buy their gas on spot markets are screwed. I guess when Mother Nature flexes you better watch out.

Shave Count (DE: 464 SE: 9 SR: 630)

Pre Shave-
Strop: Tony Miller Plain Vanilla
Scuttle: PAA Brush Warmer
Splash and go

Shave-
Razor: Ralf Aust SR
Blade: none
Brush: Simpson Badger
Soap: Stirling Gentleman

Post Shave-
Post shave lather
AS: Stirling Gentleman

The Process-
Great late morning shave today and just grabbed random bits to mix it up. A 20 second load time was all it took to whip up a nice, slick lather that smelled very nice.

10 laps on cotton and 40 on leather to get me going. I went with my standard three passes of WTG, XTG and ATG with no drama to report. The warm lather was simply amazing, once again. That was a nice relaxing shave and I am BBS for the win! That’s it right there. Also had a bit left over for a post shave lather while I cleaned my shave gear.

Wrapped everything up with a quick rinse and pat dry. Followed that up with a splash of the aftershave and everything was right as rain! Yup, I’ll take rain as long as that crap is not frozen. Nice start to the day and I smell awesome. Life is good!

Pre Shave-
Strop: Tony Miller Plain Vanilla
Scuttle: none

Shave-
Razor: Solingen SR
Blade: none
Brush: Simpson Badger
Soap: SV Stella Alpina

Post Shave-
Post shave lather

The Process-
A very nice shave was had today. Stella Alpina hasn’t been on deck in a while and that is a real shave. It is a great scent. Grabbed the Simpson and whipped up a really nice lather.

10 laps on cotton and 40 on leather and it was go time. I went with my standard three passes of WTG, XTG and ATG with no drama to report. That was a very nice three passes and I am BBS for the win! Also had enough lather for a post shave ... good stuff.

A quick rinse and pat dry. Followed that up with a bit of the ASB and everything was right as rain. I am going to have to shave with this more often. Using the smaller brushes, this triple milled soap should last a long time. Life is good!
