Shave sticks

Ive just ordered a few shave sticks but wanted to know what other shave sticks are available.

Also, i wish artisans would bring out shave sticks. Hopefully some of them read this thread and start doing it...lol

Ive ordered palmolive and Valobra stick today and looking to get a few more.

Any ideas?

Wilkinson, mystic water and tabac also make a pretty good sticks. I am curios of speik but with very sensitive skin I have passed.
Also, you can use any refill puck as a stick by wrapping it with some aluminum foil, exposing just an end. Works even better than sticks ime.
Also, I’ve seen a few people stickisizing pucks by pressing a stick soap container on a puck. I like the puck better than stick containers so I haven’t tried.

I really like La Toja and LEA sticks. I have used them for the past month on my daily straight shaves and am really impressed. I am not usually a shave stick user and got them as a gift.

Mystic Water is the only artisan that I can think of at the moment that sells shave sticks. The little blue Wilkinson Sword shave stick from Germany is an excellent performer in just about any water. Arko and Derby are a couple of good Turkish shave sticks. I enjoy using shave sticks.

La Toja used to be very good, then just a good soap with a lovely scent, now it isn't good nor fragant. Poor slickness and cushion, and the fresh aquatic scent is long gone. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone, seriously. But perhaps you got one of the old sticks, who knows. Lea is better. They have reformulated the soap and changed the scent. It's no longer tallow based and now it smells nice, instead of that cheap lemon dish soap scent it used to have. I have it and bring it on travel, it's an OK soap, though Valobra (which I also have) is way ahead of it. Palmolive, I never used it, but that'll change sooner than later.

What happened to La Toja has been a matter of disgust and sorrow over here. The brand still exists but it's not Spanish anymore, and the production has been sent abroad, to eastern Europe. In the process of moving abroad, the quality of this soap was lost somewhere.

To the OP, I'd give Arko a try if you can tolerate the scent (lemon detergent, they say). Those who can, swear by it.

The commercial sticks and the plastic tubes sold at Maggards I always felt were too small. The narrow diameter I find pokes at the face. I never really gelled with them.




I’ve recently started loading Haslinger (Tallow) directly from the round puck. Using the small puck as a stick itself. Loads beautifully, quickly, and produces some of the finest lather and shaves I’ve ever experienced. Just rinse and let the puck dry.

The simplicity, speed and performance I will admit has been refreshing.

The Tabac stick is my favourite. It generates a ton of great lather. and of course there's that wonderful Tabac scent.
