Shave Revolution Manchurian or RR High Mountain?

Which one would you guys pick? Price is roughly the same but RR right now is discounted. If price wasn't an issue, and they are exactly the same, which one would you pick?

I have a RR high mountain. The handle is very nice and comfortable for my moderately sized hands, the knot is well shaped and has enough backbone. The only problem is that it sheds at least 4-5 hairs every shave...

Never tried the SR Manchurian. But very tempted...

Oh wow, that is a pretty big problem. A fellow shaver suggested I might want to try an RR finest before I try the Duke 3 best, it's just as good but nowhere near the cost. I figured the high mountain might even be better than the finest and seeing that it's discounted right now, it's even more tempting.

Manchurian from SR is really tempting, I wished they had more handle options though.

I cant say I have tried the RR brushes and I will also disclose that Justin at Shave Revolution has been gracious enough to let me try out his Manchurian prototype.

Brushes that I like are either a combo of (low loft/low density) or (mid-high density/high loft) and I prefer softer brushes that give up the lather and arent afraid to bloom.

The prototype brush I was allowed to try was similar to a M6/M7. The individual hairs are very silky for a 2 band with a nice balance of give/stiff backbone. The knot itself was really spectacular. I am always afraid of being overly positive and especially if it is with something I got to try for free, but this brush lathered up Mystic Water soap, FIRST TIME, NO PROBLEM!



The knot was more backbone than I was used to, meaning more than I would plan to ask for in a brush. It had a nice amount of density and when you apply a soft to medium amount of pressure behind the knot, it remains for the most part unsplayed. So without calling it stiff or pointy, it had backbone that I am sure most people would appreciate in addition to being able to paint and splay as well.

I just bought one of the blue handled Manchurian brushes from SR and I will be doing lots of test lathering to see how the know blooms and loosens up. I'm also curious as to how the tips will develop over break in period. Hopefully it will be gel tipped after a bit of use.

I can let you know how much, if any, the knot may lose in hair.

Well I used Haslinger Ewe's Milk/Lanolin, Vintage Yarley, Mystic Water Cedar and Sage, Tabac, and Mystic Water Vanilla Sandalwood. The first few lathers had the brown water coming out of the breach after squeezing out the whipped up lather. The knot really is very well sorted! Very hard to see any brown or black end badger tips in the knot. The knot only lost 4 hairs within the test lathers done tonight. This will get tested a lot with Mystic Water soaps. It seems to be an instant success with Michelle's soaps. I usually have to choose my badger brush wisely when using MW but this manchurian knot in addition to the prototype brush I tried works well with great backbone, soft tips, medium density and good flow through. Solid brush for $60! I will add some pics this weekend for you guys!
