I know there is 1 owner that received his yesterday, shaved with it last night and has already reached out to Eric for a return and refund. I’ll be interested to see the results of that.

This all seems rather unfortunate; it was an ambitious project after all.

Ikon Tech has more blade feeling than Janus, but ITech holds the blade rigid.
I pretty like to use it, always got irritation & nick free shave.
He might feel Janus harsher due to its blade chattering.

This thread seems to be the perfect case study for any entrepreneur who wants to crowd source
ideas to bring to market a new, super costly razor. And bet everything on the wildly diverse
preferences of a shaving forum.

It just shows that designing a razor by committee does not really work.

Has anyone heard back from Eric yet?

The prototype was so promising.

I realize that it had problems, namely the overly large size and the high dome, but apparently at least one of those features, and maybe both, contributed to a phenomenally smooth shave. In "fixing" the problem, others inevitably arose. When you change the dome height of a TTO razor, how could it not affect, at the very least, the shaving angle?

I find the report of chatter with a TTO mechanism interesting and somewhat baffling. If nothing else, all the classic Gillette TTOs are known for clamping a blade very tightly and having little to no chatter.

I just tried Janus at setting 1 with Green Gillette, it works very well.
At setting 1, the blade gap of mine is 0.8mm.
The razor became very smooth, and still pretty efficient. I couldn't feel blade chattering at setting 1.
Shave of Janus at setting 1 is very close to Paradigm DiamondBack. (both efficiency and smoothness)
I will try setting 2 next time.

I am 15 hours post shave and barely can feel any stubble if I rub ATG. So for me that is a great BBS shave from last night. I think I just need more experience with this razor. This does not overshadow other issues people have had, but I want to give this razor a fair chance.

That is positive news altho a DB will set you back $240...and probably resale won't be a problem.

Mark, you may try 1 or 2 for your next shave. It is becoming a very good daily razor.
I am going to keep Janus, I really like Toggle Mechanism, and its appearance.
