Shampoo Bar

Does anyone else here use shampoo bars? I had never tried one until recently and now I can't see myself going back to regular shampoo. I went with PAA's Lime Ginger Tea Tree Conditioning Shampoo Puck w/Manuka Honey, Cider Vinegar and Menthol. I love the scent and it has a nice, cool tingle from the menthol. I recommend trying one. There are different scents, and of course other artisans that offer them. I think Mystic Water has some too.

I have wanted to try a shampoo bar for a while now. in the past few months I've converted over to artisan soap bars and have enjoyed trying the various scents/artisans....although not as much as I've enjoyed the variety in shaving soap

BTW, did you find the shampoo bar to be "Conditioning" as well?

Shampoo bars are all that I use. I use the house brand from QED, after trying quite a few, and find that they are excellent and convenient, especially when traveling.

It is a cleaning and conditioning shampoo bar. It took a few days or so for my scalp and hair to adjust, and might still be adjusting. However, it definitely cleans and feels like it conditions too, but doesn't have that same feel you get from store bought conditioner. Also it provides a ton of lather almost instantly.

I didn't consider the convenience for traveling someone pointed out. That's a great point.

Mike’s Natural Soaps also has shampoo bars, but only occasionally, so getting one can be hit-and-miss. I have a sample that I have not yet tried.

I really should get a Phoenix Artisan Accoutrements “Cavendish” shampoo bar, because that scent is one of my favorites.

I use whatever artisan bath soap I'm using to also wash my hair. so far, I haven't seen any negatives with doing this.

I've used Mystic Waters' shampoo bars in the past and like them. I have to try some of the other brands as well. Work well, lather well, smell good.

So far I've used PAA, MW, TTFFC and Soap Smooth shampoo bars. My favorite was probably Mystic Water. The best scented one was PAA Cavendish, but it didn't last anywhere near as long as the MW. The trick is to rinse after with some diluted apple cider vinegar. I know it sounds gross, but the smell doesn't stay in your hair at all and it leaves it feeling really nice. I guess it readjusts the PH balance. If I don't do this, my hair has a weird texture to it, hard to explain. After all this though, I've come to the same conclusion as Andrew and just use regular bath soap. I don't really see the difference in a bath bar and "shampoo" bar. The ingredients are nearly identical. As long as I do the vinegar rinse, I have the same results. But as always, YMMV...

PAA shampoo bars have the cider vinegar in them, and differ greatly from a bath soap recipe. I'll have to check MWs ingredients to see how hers are made. I know Soapy Bathman makes them too, which considering how nice his scents are I may hasn't to try one.

I've been using them for the last 4-5 years or so, along with natural bath soap bars. I have not looked back. As far as shampoo bars go I recommend Sudsy Soapery, Mystic Water, and Queen Charlotte Soaps.
