Semogue 610...I'm struggling

I got a 610 for Christmas. I asked for it because of all the rave reviews people gave it for face lathering. I used my staple Stirlng soap that I usually get three passes and wash 5 passes down the drain. With the 610 I need to go back to the puck after every pass. Is this what people talk about when they say you just need to stick with it? I'm loading way longer than I do with my synthetic brushes and it looks like a ton of soap in the brush. Once I apply it on my face It seems like I'm just not getting anything from the brush to make a lather.
I know it's early and I need to give it time, I'm posting just to ask if this is what people mean when they say they take time to break in?

Yes, let the brush break in for a few weeks. That said, Natural Hair (boar) will hold different water then a Synthetc and it will take some adjusting.

The 610 is a fantastic Boar brush, I own the red handle one.

Thanks for the reply Bruce. Mine is the black handle, I did not care about the color. I tell you what, after the second day and going to my puck 3-4 times a shave I was thinking, "how in the world did anyone figure out that these things take a while to break in, I would have thrown this thing in the trash after day two!!!"
I'll stick with it and report back. I put the rest of my brushes in a container and out of view. Il, use this thing until it comes around.

You can also just use a crummy soap and test lather it daily. Shave with your regular brush and just do a test lather with this one every day.

Soak it, Load it, Palm lather it, rinse hand and then palm lather a second time (or however many passes you do), thoroughly rinse and repeat 24hrs later.

Some like to enjoy the break in and feel the transition, some don't. I just don't recommend any cocakamamy speed up methods like sand paper or a hair drier.

That's why I probably won't ever try a boar brush. I can't imagine that long of a break in but I hear it's worth the wait from those who like them. Good luck with the brush, I'm sure it will work great in a few weeks.

I have three boars that I use from time to time. They are not soft, but on a two day growth they work like a charm. Not my favorites, but they have a place in the den.

Both my Semogue 620 & 830 ate up Lather just like you are describing. Only advice is that it will take a few weeks to break in the brush, they take longer than omega boars but I find Semogue boars to be better. I've heard that rubbing the brush on your palm helps but never tried it good luck.

Try a Zenith. The one I got didn't require any breaking in. It felt really stiff when dry so I was a little skeptical at first. But after a soak in hot water while in the shower, it's really soft and not prickly at all. No animal funk either.

I have no issue with the way it feels on my face. If it gets softer over time, great. If not, I'd be fine with it. Mine also had no scent when new. In fact, the first thing I did when I took it out of the box and again the first time I picked it up after soaking, was put it to my nose and it had zero scent.
My only problem with this brush so far is its reluctance to hold soap. Or establish a rich, thick, creamy lather like my synthetics.
If I can't get multiple passes from a lather by Mardi Gras, this thing is history.
