Is it just my city water. But the SE blades get rusty after 3-4 shaves? My DE feathers did not do that until about 8 shaves.

I have yet to see this on any of my blades, even the carbon ones. I often get 10 shaves or more from an SE blade and no rust

Anyone notice quality inconsistency on pro supers? Changing weekly and this new one feels like I need to change after 2 shaves.
Are they like the DE feathers? Very inconsistent compared to the DE Kai. Think I need to find some captain titan milds

My experience with Feather Pro & Supers is that they average out to one dud blade per pack.

My personal opinion, and what I do, I only purchase my blades from known vendors mentioned here. Maggards, West Coast Shaving, Gifts and Care to name a few. They go out of their way to return or replace any goods the consumer feels is sub-par. There are a few stories out there of questionable service and long wait periods for returns or PayPal issues. You wont hear about that from the vendors I mentioned. These are vendors who care about their online reputation and wouldnt get caught sending us sub-standard goods. Let these vendors do all the legwork to source the goods we want and trust that what you ordered is what you will get. We are an eclectic bunch. Trust me when I say they will understand you if you ask them for Personna Israeli Reds now packaged in blue wrappers. Also, keep in mind I swore off ebay since '04 so I dont do any shopping there whatsoever. I know this sounds like a shameless plug, which it kinda is, but thats what I do and why.

On edit, I meant to comment on the rust issues you mentioned. If you do a search I read a thread here where a user mentioned "tea staining". I too have seen this with some of my razors. Sometimes it is razor specific, other times it is blade/razor specific. The poster mentioned where stainless steel isnt really stainless. My belief is it can me a product of 2 very dislike metals coming together in water causing the beginning stages of rust to form. It concerns me more on the Injectors I own as a blade can sit there for almost a month sometimes and those blades dont dull and get changed out nearly as often as a DE.

Since this thread is titled they way I would, to ask a question I have, I will ask it here.

For the vintage Injector user that I am, I cant keep up with all the new fancy blade offerings coming out. I know there are new production razors made to fit these bigger fancier blades. But I dont want to miss out on a blade option I may not know about. Right now I know of 2 universally agreed upon injector blades on the market. The Personna injector, and the Schick (chick) offering. This site puts the standard injector at 36.3mm (1.43"). Am I correct in assuming that all other injector style blades will not work in the vintage style injector razors? Am I missing out on better blades? (besides buying a new production fancy razor to try them?)

Using spine back SE edge GEM SS ptfe blades I regularly get at least 20 shaves per blade, and it's not at all unusual to get over 30 shaves per blade. The first shave and the last shave don't feel at all similar, but the last shave isn't uncomfortable. If it was I wouldn't use it for that many shaves. I'm not a masochist. I can the blade when it starts to cut inefficiently. I won't change my shave or the number of passes; I change the blade. My present blade has at least 11 shaves on it, as recorded by tally marks on the wrapper.

There's no danger in trying this for yourself. GEM SE SS ptfe blades don't bite as they get dull. They merely stop cutting whiskers efficiently. They don't act at all like a DE blade. I have never had one draw blood as it got inefficient... ever, and I've used many of them.

Before I forget (again), and I did forget... if a SE blade gets rusty, or only gives a few shaves... it's carbon steel. I'm betting that they were bought at CVS. Walgreens has the GEM SS version, but died in the wool SE users buy their blades in bulk from Ted Pella, EMS, or Connaught for the best price in bulk. I can buy GEM SS ptfe blades for an average of under $.01 per shave in bulk. That would be $.25 per blade. For the quality of the shave that's very inexpensive.

olschoolsteel, I'm pretty sure those are the only two options for modern injector blades. The Ted Pellas are just rebranded Personnas. The only other options are vintage blades. There is also Supply Provision Co.'s single edge razor. I don't know what brand of blades they distribute or if they have their own made. That might be worth looking into.

New blade this morning cut like a katana. They were bought on Amazon. I did buy a new case from Japan on eBay, sealed. But be couple months before I open them up. Love the longevity of these blades.

Thanks wyze0ne , the easiest way to stay out of the hype of new shiny things is not to pay attention to them, but I have to touch base and make sure I'm not missing out every now and then. I'll check out that other source and see if they put anything out, but like you, I doubt it.
