I own a lot of injectors, probably 15 or so and sold off close to or at least that many over the years. I don't think I've ever owned an adjustable before though.

what does the black button on the underside of the head do?

I own two of them and I don't think it does anything. All the adjustment is done by the dial on the front.

I don't own one, but wouldn't that be what moves when you turn the front dial? i.e. adjusting the blade gap?

I messed with the razor some more last night. you need to slide that black tab into a certain position to allow the dial to open/close the blade gap.

Is it a lock to prevent the wheel from adjusting after you set it where you want it?

possibly, although the dial can still be turned after the black clip is slid into its locking (I assume) position.

There was a model that you flicked a switch that pushed a cover over the blade to protect it when not in use.
