in a Family Dollar Store. As I live right on the southern border with Mexico i wouldn't look for these north of here. Interesting. They were priced $5.50 for ten razors:

Well, Gillette is no stranger to aggressive advertising. I saw an article recently, maybe from Mantic59, about decent products recently found in dollar stores.

its hard for any other company to beat Gillette in cartridge razors, safety razor blades and I wish that was the case with the DE razors but they quit manufacturing them long time a go, we still have them, market is over flown with vintage Gillette stuff

I don't know if they are, "Beating them," obviously they aren't, but Gillette has lost a TON of business to Harry's and Dollar Shave Club. I remember reading an article not long ago talking to a former Gillette executive who said, (Not exact words but what I remember) "I have no idea how either of these two got off the ground. Back in my day we would have bought them out or buried them before they even got started. Somebody at Gillette fell asleep at the wheel."

Yes, but Harry's use crappy German blades & Dollar Shave Club even crappier Korean Dorco blades.

Performance has a price.

Maybe so, but to the bean counters at Gillette this is all that matters: "New data show Gillette has lost U.S. market share for six straight years. Its share of the men's-razors business fell to 54% in 2016, down from 59% in 2015 and more than 70% in 2010, according to figures released Tuesday by data-tracking firm Euromonitor."

That A LOT of lost revenue.

lol wow, what a statement! I did tried Harrys and other sub brands cartridge razors and none of them can even come close to Gillette performance wise, now speaking of pricing their products well this is where Gillette lost customers and well deserved. Time for them to drop their prices and stop being greedy

Yes, but they lost circa 85% in the early 60's when stainless came into play. They will survive while Personna is fighting for its life.
