So I've liked the Voskhods that I've been using. I'd like to try some other Russian blades. I figured I would try some Ladas, but there are several Rapiras. Any recommendations? Non-recommendations? Or just try them all?

Also what are your thoughts about buying Russian blades on flea bay? I've seen some concerns about counterfeits. Prices on some of the Russian sampler packs are enticing though. Any experiences or good sellers?

Thanks, gents.

I find the Russian blades, in general, to be quite good.  They're inexpensive enough that, after you get some recommendations here, go to tryablade.com and put together your own sampler package.  TryABlades a merchant here and when you click on his double edge blades, he shows the blade and the country of origin..

If you can get your hands on some Gillette 7 O'Clock Super Platinum blades in the Dark Blue box, they are made in Russia and I find them to be excellent.  They are no longer in production but if you can find some NOS at a reasonable price then give them a try.

Thanks. I've used try a blade before and have always been pleased. And I'll look out for some NOS 7:00 super platinums.

I have enjoyed the yellows. greens, and blacks. I like the PolSilvers too. I liked the Vokshods until I bought a 100 pk, and couldnt get through the first 5. The pink/blue/brn Rapiras were tuggy dull too. Too bad because those are priced well. I think I tried some sputniks and they were the same as the Voks.

I dont know which Russian plant does which blades, but I like all of the Gillette branded ones and the PolSilvers.

Appreciate the input. Thanks! The polsilvers have been pretty decent for me. I'll definitely keep some on hand.

Yeah, guess that's what I'll do. The whole process is fun so no complaints.

I'm a big fan of the Rapira Super Stainless actually. The tough part about blade recommendations is that I would recommend almost every blade out there. There are very few blades that are universally disliked, and most are loved by someone. You just have to try them. Try as many as you can afford really, and TryABlade is definitely a good resource for that.

These are my all-time favorite blade; sharp and they lasted forever. The Silver Blues are almost as good.
