Rocnel SE Review

Thanks for the update ckeskin! I'll sit this one out. Like I always say, I can live with a mediocre product, but can't live with mediocre customer service. I pre order quite sometime ago without an update, and I have to read that I am out of luck from a member? Not cool!

Hector, from how I read it I don't think you are out of luck at all. It sounds to me like they aren't taking any NEW preorders at this time. To me it is presumed that all of the existing preorders will have the option to be fulfilled. If you still feel like you want to opt out, then may I ask for your spot?

Hector, I took it the same way as Brian and Freddie. I, too, preordered and I was told I would hear when they were billing and shipping. That was about a week or so ago and I have not heard anything to the contrary since then. If I do then I'll let folks know.

Guys, to be honest, at first I was not going to consider the Roncel at all and think I even posted that somewhere on DFS. However, the more I thought about it, the more intrigued I became and at the price, even with the addition of shipping, it is very reasonably priced so it won't exactly break my piggy bank. Here are some thoughts on why I changed my mind (in no particuar order):

A) SharpSpine has taken us on some fantastic tours of SE razors and while I can, and do, use both DEs and SEs with no problems, I also don't have the skin/beard problems that he encounters. His and others explanation that the stiffer SE blade and the lack of play with SE blades had me wondering if this razor might not be the best of both worlds.

B) It's different and while it looks unnecessarily complicated with extra steps (snapping a blade in half or buying half blades, snapping off the tabs for a smoother look, etc) those very supposed negatives also, for some reason, added to its appeal.

C) The Roncel looks substantial and I like the overall style of it. It is different from any other razor in my den.

D)  The price allows me to try it without guilt.
