First shave impressions...

Not going to bore anyone with my normal prep but gave the Rocnel it's first run. Blade loading is very easy. I clipped the blade in half, slid it in, and just snapped off the side tabs. Didn't take 2 seconds. I use GSB blades as my go to, even more so with a new razor, so thats what I used.

If you ever want to know what solid feels like, get a Rocnel. This bad boy should be nicknamed the sledge of SE razors! Just solid and hefty! This worried me at first due to some issues with my hands that can make holding items difficult at times without them cramping up. That being said it is very comfortable in hand and very well balanced. The finish is nice and the knurling on the handle is perfect. No chance of this razor slipping out of your hands. You can tell time was placed in its design and manufacture. The angle is very intuitive and user friendly. Even though it looks different than anything most of us have used before, a newcomer would have no issues finding the angle with this razor.

I shave daily so no thicket of growth to mow through but my stubble is always thick and coarse. I proceeded with my first pass WTG. Absolutely no pressure is needed. Just place against face and slide down. After the first pass I applied more lather and proceeded with my ATG pass than followed by a couple touch up spots. No irritation, nicks, cuts, or weapers and a BBS shave was easily achieved. There was no flexing of the blade, no chatter, no sliding out nothing. I've felt around my face and not a stray whisker was left. There was no clogging of the razor and it wrinsed clean between each pass. Very impressed!

Overall I currently feel this will be a great addition to the den and can't wait to work with it some more. For the quality and performance the price cannot be beat! Is it a game changer? No. Will it replace every razor in your den? That's up to you but for me, of course not. Do I welcome it? With open arms. Even if in the end you decide it's not for you I feel it's still worth giving a try.

Thanks all for taking the time to read my first impressions. Feel free to give me a shout if you have any questions. Hope you all have a great day!

Cheers!

Great review Freddiep318ti and thanks. Mine came in yesterday as well and look forward to giving it a trial run. I have a question: is the finish on the handle of yours different than the head?

Thanks kwsher! The finish on the handle is just a little bit shinier but I believe that's just due to the machining process. I'm sure if I wanted I could polish everything up nicely to match. I like it as is though. Nice, industrial look.

Mine too Freddiep318ti - I actually like the satin of the head and wish the handle was more brushed too. Definitely solid and a heavy duty piece. Amazing that it is so inexpensive!

I guess maybe I did something wrong when I signed up for the razor even though I am sure it said that my order was accepted. I have heard nothing. Sad
