I appreciate that some of you are skeptical of what I wrote. I am not in manufacturing and I can only trust that the owner of the shop was being forthright, and not misleading me.

However....

I have no reason to believe that he was pulling my leg. The contracts he takes on for aerospace, and oil & gas are quite profitable. As an example: his company fabricates the brackets and clips used in the wiring harness for several US military choppers. I have visited his shop and he has really cool equipment including Matsuura CNC milling machines and several pieces of CNC turning equipment.

For him to take on a little project like a razor for a weekend project was to humor me. He has no interest in tying up his machines in a silly side project. His estimates are his own based on his experience.

Knowing the machining industry and having received quotes from dozens of companies of varying sizes, I find this immensely hard to believe. Even designing a fully functional razor in 5 hours is silly, let alone the engineering, CAM work, tool design, tool manufacturing, and finally the actual machining of the parts all in that timeframe and for that cost. On top of that, those tooling costs are astronomical. If you can prove me wrong, I’ll second Razor Emporium and ask for his contact. Hell, Matt and I can go in on it together.

Now, I don’t really care about this story, but the reason I’m wasting my time here is because silly stories like this undermine the value of the work that I and other makers do. It creates the false idea that we’re all overcharging for our products and making insane profits by gouging the customer. That couldn’t be further from the truth.

No matter what we have to give them props, these dudes are not giving up and to be honest i like that! They just have to make sure the 1 piece t-bar gets good quality plating for the sake of longevity of the razor. I left the ks long time a go, but i like what im seeing from from them, these dudes are commited on delivering the razor in proper order
I have always read that the T bar was SS and assume that this could be SS as well but they haven't specified as well as it seems that such a complex 3D one piece would be difficult to make in SS unless they use MIM which as a process has worked for them. I'll be putting up this question to the team.

you go ahead and ask them, take this into consideration though, if the one piece T-bar was made of MIM SS molding then why are they chrome plated instead of leaving them plain? Something tells me they are 1 piece zinc mold and its fine as long as they make sure the plating is done correct.

Here are few pics of the original 2 piece t-bar, zinc top and brass bottom

As for me, Nah. There are enough great quality razors out there.
LOL I'm sorry man but I have to call you out on this one, tell me which one are you: a troll, a shill or a professional bullshitter?

Concur. This is not in the realm of possibility. And if it is please send me the name / address of machine shop - I’ll fly there this week and personally commission this razor to go into production at this pricing.
