Didn't get a chance to do a 4th shave but it wasn't needed for me to discern what I wanted to know about this razor. It will be shipped out tomorrow to Time Bandit

Final thoughts. Even though this razor was by far the most aggressive slant I've used I am still convinced slant razors are nothing but a gimmick. Assuming the blade gap, exposure, etc. is the same as an Ambassador except for the torsion put on the blade .Slants just make the blade shave less efficiently is all since on the Ambassador at the same settings I've used get you BBS and then some unlike this razor at the same settings. You can just as easily make a razor with blade gap, exposure, etc. that will shave like this slant at those settings without twisting the blade.

With that said it still is nicely built razor but not something I'd go out of my way to buy. Leaving the slant issue out of it, I plain old prefer more aggressive or efficient razors than this is capable of.

Thanks for letting me try out the razor.

Thank you BBS for passing the Konsul my way.

Prep: P.A.A. Cube 2.0 (face wash)

Blade: Gillette Nacet Stainless
Razor: Rex Supply Co. Konsul Slant Adjustable

Brush: Van Der Hagen Pure Badger aka "Scritch Monster"
Soap: P.A.A. Steeplechase Sport 2022 (CK-6)

Post: P.A.A. Alum followed by Dickinson's Enhanced Witch Hazel Deep Cleansing Astringent w/ Menthol & Eucalyptus
Aftershave: P.A.A. Steeplechase Sport 2022
Post 2: Neutrogena Hydro Boost Gel-Cream Extra-Dry w/ Hyaluronic Acid

Today's shave was my very first shave with either a Rex Supply Company razor or a slant razor. I know I'm in for a real eye-opener with this one.

I began with a really good face wash using P.A.A.'s Cube 2.0. As usual this stuff is great. It cleans my face very well and provides a nice residual slickness. Of course this depends on how thoroughly you rinse your face. I rinse well but leave a little behind on purpose.

I chose to pair a brand new Nacet blade with the Konsul Slant Adjustable for my first shave. Nacets are my most used and familiar blade so I thought it best to go with a known good blade, dealing with an unfamiliar razor and all.

I started out with the Konsul dialed in at 5. I immediately noticed how smooth this razor is. I didn't pick up much blade feel at all (which I like) so I dialed it up to 6. I then shaved another small portion of my face and though "oh what the hell. Let's just dial this thing up to its max." So, I set it to its upper limit of 6.5. From here on out I left it at this setting.

At 6.5 I did begin to notice some blade feel. But man! What can I say but this razor is ultra smooth.

The head design is engineered really well. I'm thoroughly impressed my what Rex Supply Company has done with this razor. I mean even the grip is something to talk about. Obviously I don't know what the "Sure Grip" feels like but this "Diamond Grip" feels great. Being made of steel it is quite heavy and with the weight of the razor, a solid, quality grip is a must. With the Konsul's Diamond Grip it's there.

I continued on with my shave, first going with the grain, across the grain outward then across the grain inward. All passes separated by a quick warm water splash.

A few words on the soap...
The P.A.A. Steeplechase Sport 2022 was outright amazing! The quality of the CK-6 formula is out of this world. The scent is an homage to Ralph Lauren Polo Sport which I love and own the cologne of. It's not a pure 100% clone but it's darn close. If you know P.A.A. then you know they always like to add at least a little bit of their own personal flare. They'll pay respect to worthy fragrances but add a dimension to them that's all their own. It's subtle but it's there. I like that they do this and respect them for adding some of their own style without their homages being straight duplicates.

Incase you don't know, their soaps are non-tallow, vegan soaps. Don't let that fool you though or you're going to miss out on a fantastic product.

Back to the shave...
I lathered the CK-6 soap right of the puck with no blooming (this time). I swear I only spend a minute building up my brush but the soap provided enough lather for three passes and then some. Clearly my jar is going to last me a while.

After three passes I felt around and did a little bit of spot treatment chasing that bbs I so love achieving. I thoroughly rinsed my face then reached for my alum block. Interestingly enough, I felt far less sting from this shave with the Konsul Slant dialed in at 6.5 than I have from some recent shaves. This tells me that even at the Konsul's most aggressive setting, it is just really good at what it's designed to do. I honestly am really impressed with this razor.

After the Alum dried I threw a quick splash of some Dickinson's witch hazel on. This stuff is pretty standard stuff but I like the pH adjustment is does for my skin. And with a small bit of menthol and eucalyptus, it's a nice little kick I appreciate.

I followed the witch hazel splash up with some of my matching Steeplechase Sport 2022 aftershave. Again, if you're familiar with P.A.A.'s aftershaves then you'll know the dry down feel is really good. I find it somewhat addicting and really look forward to it.

I waited a few minutes for the aftershave to dry then topped my shave off with some Neutrogena Hydro Boost Gel-Cream Extra-Dry lotion. This stuff is really good at making your skin feel like you didn't just drag a super sharp metal blade across your face. This stuff is definitely worth checking out.

All in all, I have to say that I thoroughly enjoyed shaving with a slant razor for the first time. I can only hope other slant razors are just as good at the Konsul Slant Adjustable is.

Lastly, if you're on the fence about purchasing this razor, I say go for it. It's a very solid, well built, good looking razor with a noticeabley smooth feel. If I had the dough for one of these I'd most currently add this to my collection.

Shave on gentlemen.  Wink

Prep: Dermalogica Ultracalming Cleanser used w/ a Clarisonic Mia Men

Blade: Gillette Nacet Stainless
Razor: Rex Supply Co. Konsul Slant Adjustable

Brush: Omega Boar 10005/80005
Soaps: Stirling Soap Co. Alighieri

Post 1: P.A.A. Alum (w/ dry dock system)
Post 2: Dickinson's Enhanced Witch Hazel Deep Cleanser Astringent w/ Menthol & Eucalyptus
Aftershave: Stirling Soap Co. Alighieri
Post 3: Neutrogena Hydro Boost Gel-Cream Extra-Dry w/ Hyaluronic Acid
Finish: Stirling Soap Co. Alighieri Eau de Toilette

This was shave number two with the Rex Supply Co. Konsul Slant Adjustable. This time I intentionally dialed it down to 4 from my first run at the razor's max of 6.5. I did this to test the razor's end result when set to a more mild setting.

I did a three pass shave going with the grain for pass one, across the grain from inside out on pass two, then across the grain from outside in for pass three. For pass three I bumped the razor up to 5. Specifically when dealing with my neck I always go with the grain for pass one and against the grain for both passes two and three.

At setting 4 the razor felt ultra smooth. I have to say the head geometry of this razor is really good at providing a very comfortable shave. At setting 5 I begin to feel a little bit of blade, which I like. I found that shaving with these lower settings, the overall shaving experience was more comfortable but more spot treatment was needed to really complete the goal of a bbs shave.

This was also my first time using the Stirling Soap Co. Alighieri products. The scent is a take on Christian Dior's Fahrenheit for Men and in my opinion Stirling Soap Co. did a fantastic job with this scent! It's a complex and beautiful fragrance with leather, cedar, sandalwood, vetiver, musk, amber, nutmeg, and tonka bean. It's lightened up by citrus, lavender, chamomile, and soft floral notes. If this sounds even remotely appealing to you, do yourself a huge favor and try this when you can.

The Konsul Slant Adjustable continues to impress me. Its build quality is top-notch. I love the head geometry, the weight, the grip, the overall fit and finish.

All in all I had a great time and a fantastic shaving experience.

Prep: Neutrogena Hydro Boost Hydrating Gel Cleanser w/ Hyaluronic Acid (fragrance free) used with a Clarisonic Mia Men

Blade: Gillette Nacet Stainless
Razor: Rex Supply Co. Konsul Slant Adjustable

Brush: Vikings Blade White Knight (synthetic)
Soap: Razor Emporium Old School

Post 1: P.A.A. Alum
Post 2: Dickinson's Enhanced Witch Hazel Deep Cleanser Astringent w/ Menthol & Eucalyptus
Aftershave: Razor Emporium Old School
Post 3: Neutrogena Hydro Boost Gel-Cream Extra-Dry w/ Hyaluronic Acid

This was my third and final shave with the Rex Supply Co. Konsul Slant Adjustable as it's time to pass it on.

I started this shave with the razor set to 4 for the first pass then increased to 5 for the rest of my shave.

Being that it's time for me to pass this lot onto the next I didn't want to skip the opportunity to use the Razor Emporium Old School soap and aftershave splash. I love trying new things, gaining firsthand knowledge for myself, so I couldn't resist.

I chose to bowl lather today being considerate that this soap is part of a pass-around. I normally jar lather but not today. This soap was impressive as well. The lather produced was light and fluffy but thoroughly protective and slick. The scent is unlike any I've used before. It had a slight pungent top-note but not in a bad way. It's quite sophisticated and has an alluring classy quality.

I did a four-pass shave going with the grain, across the grain outward, across the grain inward then a final against the grain pass. The result was a beautifully smooth bbs shave further increasing my desire to own one.

After three shaves I've come to the conclusion that the sweet spot for this razor is in the 4 - 5.5 range. I did enjoy the razor at its max of 6.5 but don't necessarily recommend that to everyone. YMMV.

Again, the Konsul has impressed me and proven its worth as a top-tier razor (in my opinion). I am a little sad to let this razor go but have gained a new respect for Rex Supply Co. The Konsul Slant Adjustable is superbly built and is worth of your consideration. I'd also like to say Razor Emporium's soap and aftershave are great. By all means don't shortchange this brand. I won't!

I want to give huge thanks too Razor Emporium for facilitating this pass-around! The opportunity to try the Rex Supply Co. Konsul Slant Adjustable and your Old School soap and aftershave was really fun. Much appreciated!

Shave on gentlemen.
